Take that up with SL and his poodles who made those decisions and the squad of players who got LJ sacked, repeated it with Holden and are still doing it with the new guy, who won't take it.

I asked you once before how do you motivate players who basically don't care for anything other than money? you never answered because obviously any manager needs the will of those players and LJ never had it in the end and neither did Holden and neither has Pearson with certain players, it comes to something when an 18 year old kid has to berate a senior colleague who with only several minutes remaining, to stop ambling over to take a corner. and to basically get his arse in gear. And that was another player you seem to think at the age of 30 can be coached to improve.

Given the squad, recruitment and the medical department mess, I would say mid table would be an achievement, in fact seeing a team actually putting 100% effort in every game and not when they can be arsed would be an achievement.

But I am sure as usual the vast majority are wrong and you are right.

Never rated him but you said you would offer him a new contract and hope the coaches could improve him?

I suspect you are in an even lower minority than normal with that one.

But who knows maybe we will keep him.

If mid table is good enough.....don't understand why we sacked LJ......Not sure SL will be thinking mid table is an achievement....I certainly don't, for me, the same was when Deano was in charge.....
IMO. it will only take a few players in, to totally change the dynamics of the players we hold on to....IMO..If NP is as good as everyone believes...playoff place should be imminent..

I would say his first season he would want a play off spot minimum-second season a real tilt at top two.

Good luck with that .LJ had 41/2 years, Nige deserves at least as much

If we approach the situation with a policy of ‘LJ had 4 years than NP should have the same time’ then we are missing the point. DH wasn’t given 4 years.
LJ kept us in the top half of the table and within sight of the playoffs for most of his tenure, falling away each time at the end, during his notorious ‘streaks’.
If NP returns us to that then fine - I mean challenging for the top 6, instead of trying to escape the drop.
If we are bumping along the bottom of the table then he will go.
If he gets us to the Prem then he will be ordained as a god at BCFC and rightly so.

In Nige we trust-remember Bristol City have never had a manager of his standard including my favourite Alan Dicks.

Holden was never going to succeed, it was a stupid appointment IMHO after a cynical ploy conning the fanbase to ensure good season ticket sales.

I think the point is thus, 1st year to bed in what looks like wholesale changes to the squad, 2nd year of improvement to show we are going in the right direction to either the play offs or close and 3rd year hopefully be able to go for it.

Anybody who believes that the play offs is an absolute minimum is in dreamland, most fans have realised how far away we have become from that particular pie in the sky, the playing side has sadly been neglected and we have sleep walked into the position that we now find ourselves in.

PS:- Most importantly he has been given a 3 year contract, which sort of suggests that even SL has realised how badly he has handled the playing side.

    I
i agree with this Jiffie but would also point out that aside from not replacing the sale of ‘key’ players, which I think most of us can agree on, we have also suffered disproportionate injury wise to the first-teamers that remained. Effectively a ‘double-whammy’.
I hope NP has his shopping list.

totally agree we need to keep best players but disagree we should off load should prem come knocking …
reasoning being … we get into prem and need the type of players we sold!... fail to get into prem because we sold the players who may have got us there! ... money we got puts us back where we started... needing to acquire a "young" mouldable player that will be worth a few bob/ prem player which we …… or spend money on " older player" , likelihood of no real sell on fee /didn't fit the bill and failed …..
we need a PLAN from 15th May to July 15th [ arbitrary dates ] we put together a squad that will likely mostly make 2 seasons in Championship …. we then have 3 transfer windows to fine tune for a serious attempt at prem should we not have succeeded in first or second seasons of NP's CONTRACT
