I deliberately didn’t mention the political parties as my question to you was a general observation on your “great” comment, but I do agree it’s up to the opposition (whoever they may be) to provide strong opposition.
I not so sure I would say that the current government are strong, they don’t have to be as the opposition is frighteningly poor. My concern is that having large majorities lead to poor decisions that will affect us all.

    Agree completely.

Lately I really struggle to know what Party to vote for. They are all untrustworthy,

Are the Monster Raving Loony Party still on the go?

He was not up for re-election last time. The Lib Dems put up a woman who actually lives in the ward, her son is a convicted drug dealer and she lost by 32 votes to a dead woman. Now she’s up against the loony with a big house in the Avenues (a proper Leftie hypocrite).

I did actually get a leaflet through the letterbox from the deputy Marxist and it went straight in the recycling along with the four or five from the Lib Dems; but as the ward is dominated by a Nanny State loving council estate who would put an X in the box if it said “Adolf Hitler (Labour)”, he should be safe.

I was more referring to the numbers for each Labour candidate at their previous elections. If he was up against one candidate, there's a chance he'd go, but the other votes will be spread across several people, which will dilute the effect. I reckon his seat is safe, but they'll have a reduced majority overall. They've played the game long enough to know how to get around that though, so it's not all about numbers.

I hope I'm wrong, as a strong opposition is generally better than one with very little influence.

The councillors, both incumbents and candidates, in Hull make me laugh. Most of them are absolutely ****ing useless. I've only knowingly met 3 or 4 of them but there's one in particular that I detest, partly because he's as thick as pigshit and partly because he's just a ****. I know he's ****ting himself at the thought of losing out when this next lot of votes finally comes in, and I'm praying the twat's lost his seat

To be fair, I've had cause to contact Councillors from different wards a few times on a number of issues, and from my experience there are some good ones that crack on quietly in the background representing their local area as best they can. Sadly, that sort rarely make the key posts, no matter what colour rosette they wear. I've also seen good ones get swallowed up by the system for a variety of reasons, and not due to their political affiliation.
