    Match preview;
So here we are, the final game of the season. Luton's 1-1 draw with Rotherham on Tuesday night means they need to beat us by 5 or more to move from 12th, and overtake us in 9th. They can't drop down as their is 4 point gap to 13th place Preston. Our only motivation going into this game is that a win could take us above Cardiff, but Cardiff are playing Rotherham in the last game, who need a win to stand any chance of staying up.

Thought I'd get the thread up early though to give people time to discuss general feelings about the season, and how it has gone. No doubting that our form in the second half of the season has been impressive, and if it could be continued into next year, pushing for the playoffs is a realistic expectation.

Comparing with the past few years, on points totals (2019/20 = 58 - 13th, 2018/19 = 51 - 19th, 2017/18 = 56 - 16th, 2016/17 = 52 - 18th, 2015/16 = 60 - 12th), and looking at where we are currently 65 points and 9th for me it is pretty clear that progress has been made. To be realistic though, the gap from 6th to 7th is currently 8 points, so the top 6 are a fair way ahead of the rest. We'll need to take a big step forward next year to challenge for playoffs, but it is encouraging to see that we are heading in the right direction.

    Team news
QPR: Luke Amos and Charlie Owens are side lined with long-term knee injuries, whilst Geoff Cameron will be looking to sign off his time with QPR this weekend.

    Pre-match talk
QPR manager Mark Warburton: “We are keen to hunt down every singly point, we have a chance to finish 8th, we must meet the challenge of a tough Luton team and hopefully round up what has been a very good season."
As always, enjoy those who are watching and...

    ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!

Oh yes I do, vile ground, vile fans, vile place.

    Crushing QPR victory required.

    Cheers Dave.

I remember going away to Luton, it was the 81/82 season. Glenn Roeder was sent off. One of those moments that possibly changed QPR footballing history, as he had to miss the cup final replay.
Also, they beat us on the first ever game on Astroturf. Andy King opened the scoring for us under floodlights, we lost 2-1 if I recall correctly.

I'm happy to stand corrected Jeff, but as I recall it, we took the lead with an Andy King goal ( Loft End ) and they ended up winning 2-1. A bit disappointing as it was our first game on the omniturf. I was only 16 at the time, so my memory might be a bit clouded.

Terrible place and people but that ground and away end are superb. Soon they’ll be another club in a totally forgettable steel and concrete rectangle near a motorway.

Mate who is a Luton fan and that's the only interest for me.
Will watch, however, as last game.

We used to sneak in during lunch time and kick about a tennis ball on the Astroturf, nicked a few bits of it too as I recall. Weeks later at assembly we were warned that anyone found with anything taken from the ground would be nicked. Sh.at it for a while and hid my 3"x6" strip from an off-cut just in case! When I showed it to non-QPR mates they said I'd just lifted some grocer's grass from the market.

I have convinced myself that Kenny Dalglish was at least partly responsible for getting it banned for giving us an unfair advantage, ring any bells with you?

Never liked Luton... having to walk through someones living room to get to the away end. Funny fans. I remember the late 80's games with the trouble well. I also remember a few of us going away in recent times and ending in some dark underground bar with some right weird people.

I remember an Aussie who played for Luton Town in the mid seventies named, Adrian Alston who was a big name out here. He was actually born over there in Preston but his family migrated out this when he was young.

l can still remember reading Shoot Magazine with a picture of him on the front cover...... wow, some 46 years ago, crazy stuff.
