I don't want to avoid them. I think they are the weakest of the 3 vying for the final place. It was like men against boys when we played them a few months ago. Nowt to fear there.
Just think how you'll feel when we beat them. They won the first four after the Cowley's came in, then lost a few and have been patchy since. We'll take them no problem and put a big smile on your face.
Rumors online today that Defoe in talks and would return if we go up. No pressure lads! As if there wasn't any anyway
Seems he wants a 1 year stay. JD may want a longer deal or coaching. He's got links here so who knows as out of contract so his decision .
If you don't think he would have broken in to the squad this season who do you think is better than him in the current squad. I don't think he would have been given the chance otherwise Johnson wouldn't of allowed him to go. I do however think he got that wrong and having a very uncreative midfield I would have given him a chance. Then again I honestly believe Dan Neil is the most creative central midfielder we have at the club and is lucky if he gets on the bench. I know that we can all be armchair managers and Johnson is paid to do the job, but I think in Embleton and Neil he is wrong, and Sanderson probably still wouldn't be getting a game if it hadn't been for injuries.
The Sunday fixtures are going to be interesting for sure. I know it's automatic to think Blackpool will easily turn over Rovers, but I wonder what is to be gained by them doing that - would you not rest your best players from any potential injury, not sure what the league rules are around this. I support the Gills, and when we got promoted and crowned champions from L2 in 2013, we played some of the kids for our final game away at Burton, afterall there was nothing else to be gained, and it gave the kids a chance for a final run out. Charlton are up against what would seem a difficult fixture at home to Hull on Sunday, and Charlton know they will need to win. Hull are already crowned champions, so if they've already party'd out, are they really interested in the trip to South London. Imagine playing Wyke in your final game against Northampton, why would you do it? All four teams that make the play-offs will all be equally difficult. Just food for thought.
I agree Neil could be most creative player but look at numbers we have in midfield or out wide. It was about creating space. I think if Maguire had gone Embleton would have stayed. We'll get a much better idea of where our younger players stand and progression ops next season when we can clear some of the deadwood.
Hoping Lincoln in semis and we beat them. Then pompey in final. We owe them fir their fans behaviour in past. O'Nein to net winner in last minute would be sweet.
16,600 odd less than what was there v pompey last time around, they couldn't give the tickets away for that game such was the depression of failing automatically. Won't be the same this time, I've already resigned myself to watching on the box. The hassle in securing a ticket is just not worth the circus. Hopefully won't be too far into the future when all restrictions are lifted around mass gathering.
got to treat the playoffs as a bonus, if we win and go up, brilliant. If we don't, then we weren't good enough, but we will be next season. 1st full season under new regime, hopefully no covid restrictions, plenty positives for the future. HTL
