This is what I've spent the afternoon hearing from my 'super league' friends. 'You can't punish the fans'. **** off, so it's ok for QPR fans to be punished for supporting their transgressing club, but you're too precious are you? **** off again.

We weren’t docked points or banned from competitions were we? Fine them.

That's not the point, it's the 'you shouldn't punish the fans' bullshit. We were punished as QPR fans. **** these entitled ****s.

Come on ... are you as high in cuckoo land as the galactic six. Nothing will happen. Nothing at all.

They, the EPL and other clubs, will just give them a glowering look and silently think “crisis averted, carry on as usual”.

Exactly. And all the fans of these teams, despite their protestations, will soon weakly and diffidently go back to watching their teams as though nothing ever happened.

As with politics, the people at the top of the tree in sports can pretty much do whatever they want to do, with no consequences whatsover. It just gets hushed up and forgotten and we the plebs just blindly accept it.

It doesn't matter what the "legacy" fans think.... We are in the minority even in clubs like City, United and Arsenal.
What matters to the leaders of the superleague are the TV revenue from overseas...

The legacy fans of the big 6 can demonstrate and even boycott matches but who will really notice, during this pandemic.

It is only when TV loses interest will we get our game back.

Isn't the most appropriate punishment to make them all play in the Turkish Super Lig for a season?

It’s true. It does make you wonder if society has become so accepting that they can change very little anymore as the 20% become even stronger and more dominating over the 80% (or has that dynamic changes to 15%/85%) and society accept the middle ground as long as it doesn’t affect their lifestyle too much.

It’s 1%/9%/90%. I’ll dig out the article sometime.

    Here it is

    https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2018/06/the-birth-of-a-new-american-aristocracy/559130/

Probably wrong thread, it’s an interesting read though. And it’s 0.1% who own 22% of the wealth, the next 9.9% have 56% and the other 90% have 22% - they’ve lost 12% over the last couple of decades, all to the top 0.1%.

Not just the footballers out for a moneygrab...

Rory McIlroy says new 'super league' is a 'money grab' as PGA Tour threatens to ban rebels who sign up

McIlroy said he would not player in the Premier Golf League when it was first mooted in early 2020

Rory McIlroy has described a billion dollar golf super league as a "money grab" and has backed the PGA Tour's threat to ban rebels who sign up to the proposed circuit.

Eleven leading players, including world number one Dustin Johnson and Britain's Olympic champion Justin Rose, have reportedly been offered contracts worth $30-$50m (£21.5-£36m) up front if they sign for the Saudi Arabia-backed project.

At a player meeting held on Tuesday, PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan warned would be defectors of instant suspension and lifetime bans. It could also put their participation in this year's Ryder Cup in jeopardy, and has been heavily criticised by Amnesty International.

If ever you wanted good evidence why fans will never want it you need look no further than 12.30 this Saturday when the cheating owners of Sheffield Wednesday and WRDC have to slug it out because a draw will suit neither especially if little old Rotherham win at Cardiff. The EFL could not have organised it better. If one or other lays down and rolls over it will be so bloody obvious. I wonder who the whole football world will be cheering on? And the beauty of it is that even after relegation, true fans will turn up next season in the hope of promotion back up to the promised land

I share the burden of the very same chip on my shoulder too- its bloody massive. But let's not forget what our even smaller visitors on Saturday were put through and what it cost them. Fortunately they could not be prevented from getting promotion whereas Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea wanted to pull up the drawbridge.

Nine of the ESL clubs been sanctioned by UEFA and have to donate 15m euros between them to grass roots football throughout Europe - chicken feed to these money grabbing bastards. 5% of their earnings from UEFA competitions is also to be taken - that's Arsenal saved then <laugh> They've also been made to sign an agreement that any further talks about a breakaway will lead to a 100m euro fine.

Real, Barca and Juve, who are still involved, have yet to be punished but hopefully it's draconian.

Arsenal has just doubled the insurance premiums on the ‘affordable housing’ flats near the Emirates that it holds the freeholds on. Bringing the annual service charge to over £2k. You know, those flats which have been identified as having flammable insulation.

The punishment is totally inappropriate to the crime.

It is lip service and pocket money to the big clubs.

I hope so. AC Milan spanked them 3-0 in Turin yesterday to pinch their place in the Champions League places, but it would be nice to have that spot guaranteed……plenty of cheating and dodgy dealing in Italian football, clubs (including Milan) have been relegated for it before…..
