Gian Piero Gasperini has been linked

...by Duncan Castles, so it's pretty safe to say we don't need to update the poll again

Neither can Levy - because this gets the compensation owed down to a maximum of £3m

And some people on here had begun to doubt the power of getting Levy'd

£3m for being a failure ... most of us would just get a months notice

Hope we don’t go full United fan retard level and follow the blokes career so that we can say

‘see, it’s him, not our club’

    Best of luck Jose

Sorry to be pedantic but he was there for barely 18 months and benefited hugely from Nigel Adkins' groundwork plus a superb crop of youngsters coming through just as he arrived. Sure, in his only full season there he did brilliantly but it's a stretch to call that a 'project'.

Yeah, you’re right. Said football professionals have done a brilliant job with VAR, too.

You could just as easily apply the same logic and ask why none of Bayern, Dortmund, Real, Chelsea, Juventus, AC Milan, Lyon or Inter so much as looked in his general direction when he was out of work and they were looking for a new manager. Or is their collective footballing wisdom lesser than Roma's?

As i said earlier, whichever way you slice it this is a massive step down for the "special one". It is the equivalent of Everton hiring him, just with less money to spend. That alone is a damning indictment of how far he has fallen.

This is why I'm hoping we don't fall into the Big Name™ trap again and hire Allegri, considering how various jobs have become available in the last six months - notably Barca, Bayern, Chelsea and PSG - and none have been banging at his door, to the point that he's rumoured to be returning to Juve

I agree he is past it but Roma have nothing to lose as they've been off the pace for years. That was also the case with Man Utd. Not the right manager for us of course, unless you believe that he has some magical ability to win trophies....

who do you fancy as our next manager PS? And why

im gazumped tbh because I think unless we find someone who does posses some kind of magical ability, we won’t ‘progress’ under the current structure and mindset of our club.

Come back, Aidey Boothroyd, all is forgiven!

3 yrs after the end of the Fergie empire is hardly "for years"
Also they still had the financial power of the PL Empire..

I know what qualities the manager needs to have but I've no idea how the various candidates meet them.
Basically needs to be someone who will get the absolute best out of any group of players he coaches. Someone like Pochettino! Nice to haves would be friendly to sponsors and a profile to attract players who might otherwise join competitors.
As far as the structure and mindset of the club, I don't think that is the problem. The problem is that we are still playing catch up on money. Levy's mindset is clearly to stay permanently amongst the European elite which means, at a minimum, being in the top 3 in England rather than being the weakest of the top 6. But we're in continual danger of being caught by those outside the top 6 rather than going higher still. Fortunately, I don't think Leicester is a big enough place to cement a club in the top 6 and West Ham and Everton are still way behind on income.
A bit of magic or good fortune would certainly help.

Conte's name has now been thrown into the mix with reports saying we've spoken to him.

Despite previous issues with the Inter board, I doubt he's gonna wanna leave the recently crowned Serie A winners for us at the moment. Especially when he sees our CBs and realises he won't be able to build his strong base at the back like he's done at Inter, Chelsea and Juve.

Can we have a no ex-Chelsea manager rule. Hoddle, Villas-Boas, Mourinho - none have worked out. I'd make an exception for Ancellotti, but Conte, Lampard, Sarri, Benitez. No.

We can probably add an ex-Man Utd manager to the list

True we've only had one, but like **** do I want our manager to starve the U18s every other week...

Spurs Community has jumped on the Julian Lopetegui bandwagon hard

Isn't that technically enough reason to suspect he won't be joining?
