https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/19281110.sunderland-ready-admit-10-000-fans-play-offs/ SUNDERLAND are already working on plans that should see around 10,000 spectators admitted to the Stadium of Light for the home leg of the club’s play-off semi-final. The Black Cats guaranteed their play-off place when they won at Plymouth Argyle last weekend, with Sunday’s final game of the regular season against Northampton Town set to determine the identity of their semi-final opponents and the schedule for the two-legged tie. If the season were to end today, Sunderland would be taking on Lincoln City in the last four, but depending on what happens on Sunday, they could yet find themselves lining up against Blackpool, Lincoln or whichever of Portsmouth, Oxford or Charlton ends up filling the final play-off place. They could also end up in either semi-final, with the first last-four clash scheduled for Tuesday, May 18th and Friday, May 21st, and the two legs of the second game due to take place on Wednesday, May 19th and Saturday, May 22nd. Depending on where they finish, Sunderland could still be either home or away first.
Sure we sold just over 12k season cards for this season so it'll be interesting to see how they sort this
whichever way they work it out there will be some very unhappy, so the club will have to compensate somehow
Fairest thing to do is to have a draw to select the 10,000 then employ the other 2,000 as covid marshals.
Easy answer start with those that have held a season ticket the longest and work your way down the list of season ticket holders. As long as it's consistently applied shouldn't be a problem
Play off games aren't included in the ST though are they? They are additional games just like the cup matches.
Yeah agreed mate....The Board will be deffo scratching their heads over this one, that's for sure. My suggestion would be something like this - All the current 12,000 season cards holders deffo in the draw, with an agreement from all those supporters, to allow say a further 3000 other random supporters to be invited into the draw - Giving the season card holders a 75% chance of being drawn out. Happy days !
Why would the 12,000 agree to another 3,000 being in a draw that would reduce their chances ? There wouldn't be time to arrange an agreement anyway The 12,000 (or whatever the accurate figure is) should be automatically included, then it's got to go to loyalty points within the 12,000, surely
Nope. Why should I, as a season card holder, agree to someone who isn’t a season card holder, having a chance to be there instead of me?
Yes but season ticket holders have priority for cup games (play off final and papa John’s for instance)
i go back to 1998 a card holder every season and this season and paid the stream for 22 league matches(due to my kind brother i should say !) there should be a draw, if we are offered a ticket surely our present season card seat will be used but that means anyone sitting near me by say 2/3 seats either side will miss out so that draw will be complicated and there might be 4 in a family. stick a chair near the pitch and that would do me, anywhere as long as i can go. I reckon there will be a draw and we will get an email and buy a ticket (£20-30?)using a debit/credit card and it will be mailed.
Quite happy to watch on the box if miss out on a ticket. Not the end of the world like some are making out.
I suppose the counter argument will be that there are some SC holders who weren't able to renew by the time they stopped taking renewals. You can also factor in the furlough/hardship side of things meaning some chose not to renew due to financial uncertainty. Then there are the twisty ****ers like me who refused to give Stewart Donald a penny more It's not going to be straightforward
No it's not, but when you've been away from live football for over a year, not to mention spending months cooped up in the house, the prospect of being at the SOL to cheer on the lads us an enticing prospect
There is no way I will be offered the chance to buy a ticket There are too many in the knows It won’t be done in a fair way Supporters with loyalty points should be top of the list
That would be ST holders for this current season rather than those who have renewed for next season I presume. I didn't renew for this current season but did for next so looks like I will miss out.
When there was the likelihood of limited numbers being allowed in earlier in the pandemic the club did a lot of work on bubbles, no doubt that info is still available as a starting point.
I'm sure whoever get's in, if it does go ahead, will roar the Lads on the best they can. The rest of us will do what we've done all season and tune in on the old tele box and cheer them on from our sofas. I don't expect a chance of a ticket because I cancelled my season card for this season knowing full well we wouldn't get in and the stupidity of the old owners sealed the deal when they tried to say there would be no refunds for missed games. I do however, have my season card for next season so will be there regardless of league Good luck to everyone who wants a ticket and to those that miss out, don't get too disheartened, we'll all be back in a few months
same here, I'm not too fussed on being an isolated 1 in amongst 10,000 others in a 48,000 seater stadium. I'd want to go out on the drink first, sit with my mates, and back out on it afterwards, thats my match day. Happy to watch this one on TV.
