I don't really think this is news to anyone but a change of manager is not enough for Arsenal.

We need a systemic change, from top to bottom. We have been plastering over cracks for the last 15 years. Something hasn't been right at this club since Dein left and the Kroenke's took over. Our last really title-challenging side (let's be honest) was in 2007. Since then, we have only ever flattered to deceive.

Since Dein left, we've gone from fighting for the title to fighting for 3rd and 4th, to fighting for 5th, to fighting for 7th to being out of Europe altogether. If this continues, we will be in the Championship before you know it, ridiculous as it is to say. Before you dismiss the idea as impossible, how many thought 6 or 7 years ago that we would have dropped out of Europe altogether and mired in 10th place? We are not going forward and it's only going to get worse unless significant changes are made.

As much as we undeniably miss David Dein, let's not forget that he was the one to introduce Kroenke to the Arsenal board. And he was the one who initially was convincing them to sell to him. Everything's gone downhill since that moment really.

A few FA Cups here and there won't hide how utterly abysmally we've been ran. Meanwhile, we're having to watch Chelsea reach a 3rd CL final.

    It's brutal stuff.

I can actually see us going down in the next 5 seasons. no joke, seriously.

As for the change, yes we do need systemic change, but many are out of our control. (whether Kroenke sells etc).

In the meantime we need a new manager that can get more out of the current group of players.

Said it on the Arteta out thread.

But our club needs a root and branch change from the top down. KSE have failed, get them out and start again with people who have a passion for this club.

I thought Dein introduced Asmanov to the club and that’s why the Board sought out Kronke as a white knight to stop Asmanov buying us

agree with the rest of the comments

Nope, he and Moshiri bought Dein’s shares at the same time - in August 2007.

From what I’ve read, he didn’t have any stake in Arsenal previously.

Arsenal already had a rapport with Kroenke as he had bought a 9.9% share from Granada Ventures - this was in April 2007.

But both of them were brought to the club (albeit in different ways) by Dein. Kroenke was first, though.

Dien saw the writing on the wall after Abramovich bought the £1 chav club. He knew that money was going to transform the game, and that Arsenal needed to bring on board businessmen with the same clout.

Hill Wood kicked Dien out of Arsenal for trying to bring Kronke into the club, infamously stating that 'We don't need their sort', before he did a U-Turn and then embraced him into Arsenal. That was a betrayal of Dien who was (and is) Arsenal to the core and had given everything to this club. Dien then teamed up with Usmanov, but by then the board had totally frozen him and Usmanov out.

I often wonder what shape our club would be in now if Dien and Usmanov had succeeded and taken over Arsenal. I think they would have invested heavily in the club (as Usmanov said he would) and Wenger's last years, that he spent keeping this club competitive whilst on a shoe string, could have been far more successful in terms of silverware.

It's all speculation I know, but what we can say is that Kronke's tenure has been woefully underwhelming

None of Kronkes sports investments actually win anything if my research is right
