    He's also given me a rough idea of how long it takes which also sounds reasonable for the work. I thought it sounded cheap.

    Sounds good to me. I pay the guy I use £140 a day, but you have to factor in,15 miles up the road (London), trades are earning £300+ a day now.

    Word of warning there like, day rates with no deadlines can end in tears. I speak from experience after hiring a painter & decorator a few years back who spent half his day smoking tabs, and tried dragging out a 10 day job into 3 1/2 weeks. We fell out.

    Still remember some blokes who were painting the outside of the Unemployment Benefit Office and 2 literally got off their ladders and went inside and signed on . Apparently they actually seemed surprised when their benefit got stopped and told it had been passed to consider prosecution <laugh>

    Yeah I get you. Think it'll be fine though, he was recommended by someone and I've seen his work and my mate also told me he was clean and got on with the job.
