We'll be the ones to pay for it too. Booking fees for future Spurs games will go up to a fiver to help cover it.
One thing that really irks me is when I see Chelsea fans praise and glorify Roman Abramovich as the “best [football club] owner in the world”. It happens all the time. I see it a lot. I don’t know whether it’s laziness or cognitive dissonance, but I really think these guys should look into Roman Abramovich’s murky past and the organisations he’s funded, as well as the means of how he accrued his wealth. Now - I am under no illusions that, in order to be a multi-billionaire, you need to have made a series of ruthless, immoral decisions to get to where you are, no matter how toes are stepped on and how many people are hurt. But some people are more culpable and have caused more harm than others. Abramovich is one of the worst offenders of this. If you want to boast about your team’s success, fine. But don’t pretend that it hasn’t come at the expense of many other people or institutions. Abramovich is a self-serving man and always will be. Bloody money can buy you anything you want after all.
These guys are looking into the way he runs their club and nothing more. It's hard to disagree with them that he is indeed a great owner who pumps money in when needed and makes great managerial appointments. If you want to start looking at club ownership on a humanity basis then there are many many others who would fail the test and still be **** for the club as well.
I’m sorry but you can’t separate the two. You can’t ignore how he’s got to where he is, why he acquired Chelsea to begin with and the way he operates as a businessman, as well as the type of organisations he funds. I’ve already said that all billionaires have used unethical means to get their wealth, but to reiterate - the extent of the damage someone causes does matter. Abramovich has caused too much and the money he’s got is essentially blood money. Chelsea’s silverware has been bought with blood money.
You have sort of missed the point of my reply, Chelsea supporters see him as a great owner (for the club) and that can't be denied. he has poured money in when needed and taken nothing out. When you look at him as a human then you have to factor in other owners that way too and not many stand up as perfect people.
I haven’t missed the point, I just don’t think it’s as relevant as you think it is. Has he helped them? Obviously. Does the way he’s funded them and the way he’s built up the money to pay for their trophies matter? Yes. Because it’s come at the cost of people’s lives. Have other billionaires been guilty of doing this too? Yes - and I’m not excusing them. But the adulation I see for Abramovich from Chelsea fans is unprecedented. They want to acknowledge the glory without acknowledging the way they’ve achieved their success. Your response makes you sound like an apologist for criminals.
Just seen Bayern have won their 9th straight title following a 6-0 victory against Gladbach. Yawn. How and why the German FA doesn't see this as a massive issue is beyond me. Yes, their clubs deserve credit for not joining the ESL, but the Bundesliga is completely broken.
For those that can't be arsed to check, Red Bull Salzburg have finished either 1st or 2nd since 2005/6, winning it 11 times. They're also going to win this one, which will make it their 8th consecutive title. They were bought by Redbull in 2005 and had previously won three titles, all in the 90s.
I'm going back to their old name (and colours): please log in to view this image Having thought about it, whey are the Red Bull clubs using white and red? Where did the blue go?
As opposed to Seattle's away kit please log in to view this image They claim it's a tribute to local boy Jimi Hendrix, and definitely not inspired by a bad batch of Ben & Jerrys that somebody in the marketing department ate
Leicester and West Ham lose. The inevitability of us not taking advantage of that by beating Leeds is what makes the defeat so infuriating. Honest question when was the last time we actually delivered when the pressure was on? I make it the last NLD at WHL which secured us CL football at the same time as placing us mathematically out of their reach for the first time in 22 years. That was April 30th 2017. Anything since then?
Getting that point at Barcelona to qualify for the knock out rounds of the CL. The CL quarter final and semi finals And the 2017-18 run in...needed to beat Newcastle in the 37th match...was at wembley that night. Your point is very valid...4 times in 4 years is pretty crap!
