Well thats the issue, who the F**k wants to eat at a marina/Gunwarf Quays?

Thingsare improving and If you get away from the bucket and spade places then you can get a good lunch. However while the demand for a quick bite/culture of eating is the same then places wont alter here in the UK and will always seem better in mainland europe

 

Just found a 99quid same day one in Manchester which is cheapest I have seen.

I was paying 249quid at the beginning of all this so prices are coming down.

Someone who needs to eat next to where the ferry was departing from after driving to Portsmouth?

There we were loads of options to have a meal before an over night ferry, mostly ****.

They don't seem better in Europe, they are. I've done the same in Caen and Santander on a good few occasions and the food options near those ports are excellent.

We've also stopped at many a good pub on the way to Pompey as it goes and it's mostly good food in those more rural pubs.

They aren't holiday places though, which is partly the point I guess. British holiday places will cater for the common denominator, which isn't something I'm even slightly interested in.

 

I like a mix, we are one of the few places that take fewer holidays at home than outside of U.K.

So much I haven’t seen here, so travelling a day to see another country is a bit daft sometimes. Plus taking two kids on a long journey is going to be hell

 

I've got three. Which is why I don't use airports with them, it would be horrific.

I'd just as soon have them in the back of the van, moaning away, then get an overnight boat, as endure airports.

Worst journey I ever had to do in the MoHo with three kids in the back though was from South Wales to Manchester. Took seven and a half hours. Then the same again going back three days later.

Another reason to not holiday in Britain! I'd love to go up to Scotland in it but the thought of the journey is off putting.

 

Tbh mate, the only thing I insist on doing my way, is making the tea. No French person can do that properly.

 

Oh, a motor home is different I guess. a 7.5 hour journey, I could get from Tunnel to Huez/Grenoble in that time in the car!
Scotland is an amazing place, we would holiday around Loch Tay as kids and the surrounding area. Get good weather and its just amazing, if I had a van then I would love to take kids.

So as most know i have a bairn in Thailand, seems she is growing up quickly.

So anyway, during our daily chat, we got round to covid, and thailand has got it easy so far, but now a bit more, a long way from the the numbers we have, but still.

Then she started talking about deaths, and injections etc. I told her the UK numbers and you could see her mind ticking over, trying to understand the numbers, and asking about costs.

Then she hit me, i wasn't expecting it... Daddy, thailand is **** (yep she takes after me with the language), they just want money. Everything is money.

 

Was she talking just in general or was something troubling her mind?

 

she is getting older mate, and starting to understand many things, plus her english is getting better by the week. (unlike mine).

It's a bit like they were going back to school next week, but now another lockdown...So we are looking at online schooling, then she pipes up, but daddy, not everyone in thailand has internet...
