Seems a bit that way. A lot of us were saying, before his latest two injuries, that not many clubs (who are a significant step up to us) would be after him considering price, age and injury record. I'd imagine Ings, probably reluctantly, is accepting that we are his best bet at the moment. That's a complete assumption on my part from what Semmens has said, but it sounds positive.
I do agree, but I don't think it is too reluctantly. He is a Saints fan too. Maybe making the best of the situation
I don’t think players are really fans during their careers. Or at least, they don’t let fandom influence career choices. Fans are irrational creatures; not sure players can afford to be.
Every % of motivation you have to keep your best players helps a little and being s fan has to help a little when deciding between say Saints and Brighton or + or - a few k a week If he thought he could get in a team that would win something or play in the Champions League he’d have his coat on before you could say “spiritual home”
I think he will sign. Combination of factors, local lad, getting older, injury prone, suddenly we can play attacking footie again. I just feel we are a perfect match, I hope Danny can see this
You're getting obsessed about the new owner. It will make very little if any difference - unless we get someone who wants to milk the club. In which case we're doomed.
Unfortunately I think this is true although of course it is case by case basis. It doesn't perhaps hold as much value for Ings as we all hoped it might.
I think it will be one of many factors that he will take into account, but it is not a case of him being a fan and therefore having no interest in any other opportunity. He is doing what any sensible and well advised person would do - waiting to see all available options before committing to any one of them. Why would you not wait until summer, see what offers are on the table, consider each contract offer and then make your choice?
But, but, we're Saints fans, looking at the world through red and white tinted glasses. Why would anyone ever look anywhere else, apart from here? You seem to be suggesting that players are looking to further themselves, and are not wholly dedicated to making Saints as good as we want them to be. The next thing you'll be telling us is that Harry Redknapp wasn't fully committed to our future...
How many injuries has he had this season and when were they? Is this online somewhere? Feels like there have been at least two since new year and that is probably the two too many for a truly big club Although they could afford him to be injured more than we can the whole point of a high wage backup would be for them to actually be available when needed Leicester are a shout for him as they now play with two strikers but he doesn’t fit their signing profile - which is kind of like ours just with a much bigger budget He fits the West Ham profile but they want Toney and also seems like they would need Champions League which seems a long shot. And equally Aguero seems like a West Ham signing as well ♂️ Spurs could come in if Kane goes but he will likely be priced out of that due to his own foolishness in signing a massive contract We should probably agree to a release clause even if it is low at circa 20m. It is all we will get now anyway. But for all we know that is in there and he still hasn’t signed
4 injuries that I recall - he picked up injuries against Villa, Man City, Sheffield United and Spurs.
