I agree, I think some fans think that the mere presence of a new coach, with the reputation of Pearson would be enough to motivate them and in life it doesn't work like that, you can only motivate those who want to be motivated.
Exactly he has been in the game too long not to see desire-he has sussed those players out-personally think the reason for the time delay in the retention list is for him to speak to each individual before he says who is staying and who is not.
Top half next season, and top 6 the following season has to be the target set for NP, nothing less! Can he do what other lesser experience managers in our recent history have failed to achieve? We will see!
I think that is unfair given the major surgery needed to our squad, due to the dysfunctional running of the football side of our club. I think perhaps some people seem to think that Harry Potter is our new manager complete with his magic wand. The playing side is in one big mess.
Only two of the thirteen out of contract will be staying that is one big shake up bring it on i say https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport...ws/bristol-city-transfer-news-rumours-5408518
If true, I would suggest that only Weimann and or Baker or Walsh will be staying, my bet would be Baker. So it looks like the decent squad is on it's way out.
Sadly we are where we are today because of the failed leadership of Ashton and Johnson but the fault is with the Lansdowns for allowing this to happen.
Not at all, with a proven manager at the helm, it should be possible. Go back 12 months, this squad was sat in 7th during the lockdown, so they must have something about them. All the anti-LJ brigade blamed his management first, then his signings, but the bottom line remains, with 9 games to go last season we were right in the mix. The surgery shouldn't be that major, and the point of bringing in NP over another LJ or DH, is that he provides that.
Right in the mix really? With 9 games to go, we had won 1 game out of the previous 7 games and then went on to lose the next 3 games before he was sacked. One win in his last 10 games, none in his last 9. The only reason we won 2 more games than this season was because we had a different man in charge. Of course the surgery needs to be major, the squad is nowhere near good enough and more than several players have not been putting anything close to enough effort. I am just wondering exactly what you have been watching over the past 12 months, that's of course if like a few on here you haven't actually watched many or any games? Explain what you mean by what Pearson provides, I don't understand that comment.
I meant that Pearson provides the experience that LJ and DH didn't have. Interesting that you now shift the failure to the last 12 months, before you have been saying it was the last 2 years. Again, you, like Wiz, focus on the 1 win in 9 that made us drop from 7th to 9th, yet consistently fail to acknowledge that we must have had good runs to be in 7th at that point. For some reason, and nobody knows why, LJ had long runs of wins and unbeaten form, followed by runs of losses and no wins. However, a season is played over 46 games, not the 8-11 that the LJ detractors always focus on. This squad had to have something to be in 7th place with 9 games to go, and the season before that we finished 8th, so they are good enough, as most of those players are still here. What happened after the lockdown restart we know about, but not sure why, perhaps it was/is fitness, some say LJ, maybe they were running their contracts out and don't care, but something has to explain why they went from 8th to 19th and through 2 managers, and the 3rd, the most experienced of the lot has got no more, and possibly even less from them?
It obviously wasn’t LJ. He’s been gone for more than a season. 1 season and 2 transfer windows later and we are still **** - even worse in fact. Maybe it was Ashton and the rest of the entourage Anyway they are all gone now. No more excuses and blaming LJ - it’s Nigel now - are you ready for the heat Nige??!!!
Why do you consistently drag me into your conversations, I don't have the same agenda that jiffie does, we often disagree on subjects, I have no connection with this portion of the discussion, the reason LJ is called " Streaky" is because he had a continuing habit of good streaks and losing streaks, I shout out here loud and clear LJ had some great results and some dismal losses and yes I do quote them when the B/S is flying. I say yet again good luck to the bloke in the future, I wish him a good life, he has gone good riddance and up the City.
You really do have an unfortunate habit of making stuff up. I only mentioned the last 12 months because of your claim that 12 months ago we were in the mix with 9 games to go and I pointed out with 9 games to go we were in the middle of another winless run. It has been 2 years we only won 2 more games last season to this season. Again you are making stuff up, 0 wins in his last 9 games in charge was just the endgame that finally got him sacked and yes the season is over 46 games, which is why I have been continually saying that over the last 92 games, which is 2 seasons we have only won 32 games, how about that? it is shocking, it is nowhere close to being consistent I will ask for the very last time, please explain exactly what you expect any manager in world football to do with trying to motivate players who seemingly do not want to be motivated? I am intrigued what you are expecting? He is a football manager and not a magician. And had you watched probably the last 10 games you would have seen that, they have been shown up and embarrassed by teenagers, they are shameless but you still want to blame Pearson, which is nonsense. Maybe you can also answer why in the 2018 run in we only won 4 games out of the last 22 played, that's virtually half a season.
Spot on. Although I don't have any agenda at all, other than what I see from watching games, our current plight has not just happened overnight or like some would suggest since Pearson arrived. January 2018 exposed the lack of ambition by the owner and his poodles, the end of last season exposed the cynicism of the owner and his poodles towards the fanbase and the rot had set in last season and progressed to where we find ourselves now, needing major surgery. People defending this squad of players shows that they have watched very little or nothing of this season at all, they cling on to a vain hope that a team who have barely won a third of 92 games is 'decent' because they can win 'some' games, a squad that in some cases couldn't even put in 100% in games and being exposed for that unprofessionalism by teenagers. I personally embrace the wind of change at the club and hopefully a return to an ethos of football men running the football side of BCFC and the owner, his 2nd favourite son and new CEO just deal with the financial side of BCFC. That is how football clubs should be run IMHO.
