Absolutely agree Col. It was a wonderful mix of pageantry and history. There was true respect and a beautiful service with wonderful music ( and I am an atheist...and it really affected me). There was respect for all the other people who lost loved ones during the pandemic. It was a moving funeral. And the pictures of the queen alone were truly heartbreaking. As I said on here before...a woman who lost her life partner of over 75 years... devastating. A persons views on royalty are irrelevant tbh
Please don't forget the countless thousands who have been alone throughout this pandemic and not been able to either be by the bedside of those they love as they pass away or be comforted by their families at their funerals too.
I think what this also showed is what a truly remarkable man Prince Philip was. Many people knew little of him other than his 'gaffes'. We have all learned there was so much more and worthy about him to so many people he was involved with. The service was a fitting finale for a great man...
I meant to mention the singers. An amazing tenor and soprano, leading some wonderfully performed music. Beautiful harmonies too.
The rendition of the psalm was truly beautiful...the power and then quietness, the harmonies made my hair on my neck tremble... I didn't know church music could do that to me..
Can't say I saw any of it. Unfortunately, the Queen sitting alone in a Chapel saying her goodbyes wouldn't even get in the top 100 saddest things I've seen over the last year or so. Each to their own though mate.
Yep, I'm expecting more responses like this mate. I'm coming at it from a Royalist point of view. I realise some on here aren't. Fair enough, as you say, each to their own.
I watched bits and pieces and I agree, it was a fantastic spectacle. Just to add, the Irish government ordered flags on official government buildings to be lowered to half mast as a sign of respect on the day of the funeral. I believe a lot of Foreign embassies in Dublin followed suit. The Royal family gained a lot of respect over here when the Queen paid a state visit back in 2010 and she paid respects to Irish men who had fought for both the UK in WW1 and WW2 and also for those who fought for Irish freedom in the Gardens of National Remembrance (those who fought in WW1 & WW2) and the Gardens of of Remembrance Parnell Square (Irish Freedom). It was considered a huge reconciliatory gesture by most people.
Prince Charles and Camilla's alleged 'Aussie son' shares new photographic 'proof' he is their child 23/04/2021 Monika Barton Related video: Prince Philip died on April 9, aged 99 years old. An Australian grandfather claiming to be the forgotten love child of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles has shared what he believes is more evidence for his case. Simon Dorante-Day, 55, has long battled to prove that the royals are his biological parents, even taking his claims to the Australian High Court. He runs a Facebook page that has attracted almost 8000 followers, in which he posts photographs that allegedly show a resemblance between him and various members of the Royal Family. Amid posts mourning the death of Prince Philip, whom Dorante-Day believes to be his grandfather, a recent upload compares a supposed resemblance between one of Dorante-Day's sons Liam and Queen Elizabeth II. "Now I'm going from seeing young [Prince] Charles in Liam to her Maj (Queen Elizabeth)," he wrote on Facebook. After hearing news of Prince Philip's death, Dorante-Day wrote that he was "mourning a lost opportunity", but that his 'grandad's' DNA would "live on" in him and his children. "His fingerprints are all over my life and whilst some of that might appear to be harsh or hard it made me the man I am," he wrote. Speaking to 7 News, Dorante-Day said that his grandmother, who he claims used to work for the Queen, "told him outright many times he was Camilla and Charles' son". Of the latest comparison between his son and the Queen, which was sent to him by a supporter, Dorante-Day said he and his wife were "blown away". "Elvie and I feel like we see many members of the Royal Family in our children, but this one was an eye opener," he added. "One of my supporters did the comparison and sent it to me and I was speechless. A lot of people are reacting to it because it's hard to deny the similarity." Supporters of Dorante-Day's cause also saw the resemblance, commenting that it was "astounding" and insisting there were "too many similarities... for it to be a mere coincidence or conspiracy theory". Dorante-Day claims Camilla Parker-Bowles is his real mother, and kept him until the age of eight months old, using the royals and various protection offers to keep him a secret. When he was getting too old to hide, Dorante-Day claims it was arranged that one of the Queen's former staffers would have her daughter adopt him. "We owe it to our children for them to have answers," Dorante-Day told 7 News. "We have some exciting new legal paths that we're looking at to uncover the truth. At the end of the day, I'm just a man who's looking for his biological parents - and every road takes me to Charles and Camilla."
