That made me laugh. And then wince in pain slightly.

I was a bit dubious about posting this on here ... but here goes.
I was only thinking of this a couple of days ago ago, while heating up my tin of soup.
Following the match, we were waiting for our foxe's mate at the corner of the ground where Vichai sadly died. Anyway, a Leicester fan somehow knew we were QPR decided to lambast us and **** us off for being QPR fans. We sort of looked at each other and thought that this was a bit awkward.
We placated him somewhat ( Rather bemused ) until he suggested that we joined him for a pint! You stared at him ( for what seemed like twenty seconds ) and then told him 'I think you'd better **** Off.'

Yeah, I remember that. He must have been on some kind of spectrum, or have a syndrome or something. Talk about lack of empathy.

I think I was relying on you to actually hit him if it came to that.

I so agree with this. Its true here and its true in life...if you wait for the perfect moment, a) it won't come and b) it came and you missed it because you saw something shiny over there on the ground.

We do not get to choose these things....situations align and things happen.
Yes you have to have stability, you have to have good players, your not so good players must not be a constant liability. You have to have a good medical team and statistics team to keep the team fit, well and sharp. You have to have attackers who can score and defenders who do not concede too many goals.

At the end of this season we had all that

But then add in :- you have to have luck, the rub of the green, random referee decisions going our way. You have to have luck with results in matches that don't involve QPR too

The board have to buy into giving next season a go. I read somewhere that when appointed Warburton was told he had no money, but was asked to improve the team year on year. Well we finished 9th...it is not a big jump to 6th.

Protect the squad integrity, they seem to be bonded as a team
Upgrade where we can...with the loanees, with a right Wing Back is the most obvious

And then lets hope for a bit of luck....some luck you can make (The more I practice the luckier I become...Gary Player?)
But still ...some luck is just luck. (Richard Keogh slice in the final falling perfectly for Bobby Zamora.

Confidence, good play and luck....and we can do it.

Looks like we won’t be allowed out til April 2022, just in time for a few matches at HQ before a play off campaign ;-)

De Wijs in, Austin looking like he'll join and Field too...massively raises my expectations for next season. If we can continue our form from January 2021 onward, into next season, then a playoff position may well be achievable.

    Looks very positive! :)

I guess we just have to keep our fingers crossed regarding Stefan Johansen?

If Chaz and Field sign then I might have to re-evaluate my prediction for next season to top 6. If Johansen signs and we don't win the league by 10 points serious questions will have to be asked........<laugh>:1980_boogie_down::emoticon-0139-bow:

I think johanson has had the biggest impact out of all the loanees, closely followed by Chaz. Its difficult to make a prediction at this stage with so many unknowns.

If we can keep Johansen , Chaz , Field, Dykes and Dieng....we are close to top six. With a two good signings we can be in top two<cheers>

    Bloody brilliant Beth, top post.

Also, I cannot believe it’s 6 years since Brixton passed.

It seems that we will keep the core of this season’s team. If we are not able to sign all the loanees, such as Johansen, I will not unduly fret as we should have the return of a fit Amos, plus there are other players to buy or loan.

It seems that we have an efficient recruiting team and I trust that they are working and will deliver.

I guess that my biggest expectation for next season is that we keep the same management team and we will continue to improve.

By default, this implies that we will be having a real bash at direct promotion or via the playoffs.

I hope that it will be a very interesting abs enjoyable season with fans in the stadium.

Hardly surprising really as Amos is only 24 and Johansen is 30......... Johansen has captained his country and got the experience to make his job look easy. Amos has had 2 ACL injuries in the last 3 seasons and is still learning his trade, working with Johansen has got to have helped him develop as a player and if he can get to somewhere around 80 / 90% of the player that Johansen is then he'll be bloody good........

I was responding to the premise that Amos would be a good replacement for Johansen if we don't get him.
I recognise all your points and I wasn't criticising the lad, I just don't think he'll ever be anywhere near the class of Johansen. It's not just experiencethat makes a player look classy, it's also ability.
Therefore I think not getting Johansen would be a big loss, even if Amos returns to whatever his best is.

Perhaps I was not precise enough.

I would love Johansen to sign for us as he simply “fits”.

Should Fulham not be open to sell him for a reasonable price, then we do have Amos who could be fit to play in this role.

Plus we gave the scouting team with their “Moneyball style” metric tools who may be able to find an alternative replacement.

I like Johansen, but I guess he is not the only available player to be able to full fill such a role - although he is tried and tested!

I am implying that I expect new arrivals, such as in January 2021, who may surprise and exceed expectations.

In Mark Warburton I (we) trust!
