It was a slow time but the ease of the win was ridiculous. I assume Logician was not his old self and he does prefer a sound surface BUT, that was the most impressive Arc "trial" for me and I don't see the 12/1 lasting too long
Didn't have any time to post so far today. Something was very amiss with Cloudbridge today. That was awful and surely questions will be asked of connections. I was against Tactical today because I felt he had won the Free Handicap without improving and doubted his 7 lbs rise. He also seemed to need every yard of 7F and has not looked like a sprinter to me. I would say the Jersey Stakes is his next target back to 7F. The Free Handicap had also worked out pretty awfully since. Al Aasy hosed up but Logician was a bit below form today. Still mightily impressive from the Haggas horse, John Leeper was nice enough today but it looked short of Derby class. Fancy Man was well thrashed in 3rd and fans of Youth Spirit will be reaching for the oxygen mask after seeing the Chester Vase runner up whipped. John Leeper looks a silly price at 8/1 for the Derby after winning a Listed race from a horse rated 97, I would far rather Hurricane Lane at 15/2. Al Aasy is 6/4 for the Coronation Cup now. Sea Empress should be hard to beat today in a race where it is fairly easy to pick holes in most of the form. She is not a great price though with improvement possible, if needed, from some fillies here. I had a token bet on Twisted Reality. The ATR blurb mentioned that her previous race looked strong form but I can't see where they get that from. I thought she beat modest enough sorts myself. However she surely has scope for better and I backed the Beckett trained Fastnet Rock filly at 15/2 in the hope that she has come forward a lot from last season. 4.10 Newbury Twisted Reality 15/2 Over at Navan I opposed Aidan's two, Wordsworth and Sir Lucan with Party House. The Lyons filly finished with a good rattle to pip one of mune last time and she looked ready for a step up in trip. The Camelot filly represents a stable in good form and with Wordsworth odds-on I thought she was better value given that it looks like O'Brien is committing his colt to longer than Derby trips. Sir Lucan is friendless in the betting. 4.15 Navan Party House 11/4 The Lockinge looks a how far for Palace Pier race but surely comparisons with Frankel are a tad premature.
I think they have blown Bay Bridge's Handicap mark there. He started his season rated in the 70's and I felt 90 was not going to stop him after a demolition job last time. He's sure to be in three figures now and maybe time to raise his sights.
He ought to dominate the mile division this season but it would be nice if something could come out and give him a race.
Oh well, Twisted Reality was backed and did beat the favourite but she was short of pace in a race that didn't pan out as expected. No Oaks for Sea Empress after that and she just looked very slow today. Over at Navan Party House had every chance and looked to be coming to win it but she swerved across the track and lost all her momentum, leaving the O'Brien pair to fight it out but the odds-on Wordsworth lost out narrowly in a race that has zero implications for the Derby. Two Favs beaten but no cigar.
It is yes. They got themselves confused on ITV racing i think. They mentioned it for the Coronation Stakes but that's obviously impossible unless racing is going gender neutral. Has an entry for the King Edward VII stakes at Ascot
