Surely this game deserves its own thread. It was this game in 1969 that started my love with Leicester City so I (we all) have waited a long time for another crack. I've never been to any Leicester FA cup game let alone a final although I did go to Villa Park to see Plymouth vs Watford. Was living in Cornwall at the time and due to consumption don't remember too much of it other than Argyle lost and it was a hell train trip. Any more favorite cup memories? Anyway, looking forward to an early Sunday morning here and a great result
The 1968 replay against Man City was the best FA Cup game I can remember. Absolutely packed house and spent the whole match standing on one leg hanging onto one of the iron barriers that separated the popular side from the Filbert Street end. 0-2 until just before half time when David Nish scored and we went on to win 4-3 in the second half with 2 goals from Frank Large - what a centre forward he was! A real fans' favourite. No skill but great heart. Also the 1969 semi final against WBA up at Hillsborough. Not a brilliant game, but the result was everything. My mate and I burst into tears when the winner went in. Great memories, but all ended in failure. Surely this time.........
What’s everyone’s line up? Most debate really at full back. I assume Evans is injured? Also, for me I think Maddison is best as an impact sub at this moment in time. For me, unchanged to the Man Utd win
If Evans is fit he comes in for Albrighton. Think Chilly might be a bit quick for him if selected. If not agree same as Utd.
Praet for Perez? It won't happen, and Praet lacks match fitness. Perez doesn't offer much in the way of creativity going forwards and offers nothing in a defensive way. We certainly need Evans to start, but not faff around playing slow balls across the back and inviting pressure. The last thing we need is to concede a self inflicted goal after a 52 year wait.
This cup finals going to come down to 2 key battles for me, Maddison Vs Kante, and Mount Vs Ndidi Going to be very interesting for both of them looking for an England call up, though i think its Maddison that still has to prove himself.
This is it. Would love more than anything for the Vardy story to have this amazing climax. A winner in the cup final at Wembley. Come on..
I had the chance to get tickets for today, but the missus and son didn't have enough points, so decided against it. I just hope we give it a real good go. As I've said before, when we are good, we are REALLY good. But when we are poor, we are complete and utter garbage. Please, please LCFC, give it your all today.
Clutching at straws but each time Mark Selby becomes world champion the foxes have a good year! 2014 - the great escape 2016 - the great league win 2017 - the great champions league run 2021 -
Congratulations. Since the draw at the stadium of light in 2016 to secure your Premier League status, yous have came on leaps and bounds, where as we..... well. Enjoy the feeling and all the best going forward.
Sunderland fan here, Absolutely over the moon for you all. I didn’t even get to be in the room when we last won it as my mam was so stressed she took me for a push round fulwell in my pram in the last 20 minutes back in 73 Keep it up
Congrats lads might not have been the best game , like you give a flying **** , but a cracking shot to win it .
Have to feel sorry for Big Wes. Scored in an FA Cup Final and had it chalked off. Still hasn't sunk in yet. There's no more domestic trophies to win. Never thought I'd see this day. Thanks for all the great comments from non-Leicester posters.
