Pisses me off when they ask a question but then propose an answer before they interviewee has a chance to respond.

It stinks of putting forward the club's PR Spin.

Hands up, how many have ever heard of plyometric power before?

I think he is talking about increasing burst speed by strengthening fast twitch muscle.

It worries me when I hear someone using technical terms in an interview. I have seen too many people use them as a wall to hide behind because using less specialist terms would show they don't fully understand what they are talking about.

I have also seen people use them to build an air of mystique about themselves. Or, in other words they arrogantly project like that to overwhelm others to make themselves look more professional.

The two uses are not mutually exclusive.

Very interesting that LJ says the club social media officers report to him about what fans' opinions are, who we are happy with and who is being panned.

Does it really matter if he fully understands? If the coaches/physios etc have told him “this is what we’re doing and this is why” then he doesn’t need to understand the full meaning IMO. That’s why he’s the manager and they’re the people who know these things

That’s been going on for years mate. I did a coaching course with the FA to coach my sons team, they had people from SAFC and NUFC come on and talk about that (among many other things). There’ll be a member on here who works for the club most likely. Was back in the days of BBC 606 when I did my coaching badges and they confirmed they had members on there and a number of other forums

I just sat in the office and listened to this all the way through. I like LJ and feel given time and support he will succeed even if we don't get promoted this season. What struck me from his talk was how corporate he and the club are moving. It was like listening to CEO of a listed company rather than Manager of a football club, which in my opinion is needed for this club as this will ultimately stop the p iss taking that Salmon Pants promised he would stop. I think we are good hands with the new structure, lets hope some of our notoriously fickle fans will give this a chance for success as this is defiantly no quick fix.

In one way it doesn't matter - ie they will do what they need to do.

What I wonder about is POMO man repeatedly does this, yet his career so far (including here at SAFC) doesn't seem to match his fancy use of words.

He’s only 39 though. Not like he’s been around the block. Not a lot of career to talk about thus far. Only managed 4 clubs and, at the time of his “departure” from Bristol City, he was the championship’s longest serving manager.

There’s little doubt, in my mind, that he’d have been thought of much better being 7th with a chance of the playoffs with 3 to play than being 3rd with it all in our own hands. People would then think 4th was a good place to finish.

Longest serving Championship manager, yet it is almost impossible to find a Bristol City fan with a good opinion about him.

This aside, my main issue with him isn't evidential but entirely down to my gut feeling. Deep down I get a feeling of unease every time I listen to him speak and I just don't trust him.

Mind, in the interview he implies that he will lie and mislead if he thinks that misleading is in the team's best interest, so perhaps this is what I'm picking up on.

He is our manager and I support him and the team 100% - but I wouldn't buy a used car from him.

I know a few Bristol City fans who have good things to say about what he did for them before he “lost the dressing room” (that old cliche!!!)

I remember, her when Di Camino lost our dressing room. It was all the players faults not his according to our fans.

Mate it’s all about opinions and each one is as valid as the next (well, mostly) I just don’t see his career being much of a yardstick when he’s only 39. (Fwiw I wouldn’t but a used car or double glazing from him either!!!!])

I like him. We’ll see how he gets on next season with his own players and a pre season.
He’s had to play a game every three or four days with players out of position and a bad injury list.
I’m sure that there are some players he really doesn’t fancy but has to play.
Anyway we’ll see what motivational skills he has in the next three games,
although there’s no excuse for any player not to bust a gut without being pushed.

we could listen to a thousand such interviews from a thousand different managers, coaches, owners and we will get a thousand positive sounding men/women saying 'all the right things'.

LJ has improved the squad results, maybe not to anything magical but generally performances have improved...there were also games that looked as if nothing had changed from parky but there was, imho, an improvement...while he does not strike me as the 'next messiah' i feel he has done enough to warrant the support from the fans, give him the summer window and a hopefully good pre-season and see where we go from there...taking things as they were when he came to the club, he had no real time to settle in as we have had games basically every three days most of the time, injuries, especially to the back line have hampered things as well, then he had no sooner started than we had to cancel for covid add onto that the obvious problems the on/off/on/off/on/off take over saga will have brought to the club.

as it stands, we have a manager who has not had the best of situations to work with but managed some improvement..also we now have an owner who has a strong footballing history who is putting in place a well thought out staffing plan, the new season in whatever league we are in will start to show how well all this is going to work, just do not expect miracles...i have said all season that this squad of players should have enough to get promoted, maybe with a little more luck on the injuries we may have made top two...so with a little summer tweak we should have a better season coming up.

LJ got Wyke scoring goals since he came in and actually trained him to get into positions to score. Like you say, there has been improvement in the team since Parkinson left and where we were in the league so he deserves another season with players chosen under this new system if we fail to go up

I think he is probably okay, nothing wrong with the latest technical coaching jargon. Iirc Big Sam is always updating himself on the latest ways of getting a team to perform, with the individual players then together as a team then taking account of your opponents.

My minor beef with LJ ( if we get promoted all will be forgiven) is not giving younger players a chance Neil, Younger etc.

Listen to BSA in an interview though and he doesn’t use technical jargon in his speech like LJ does.

I thought that was another excellent listen. I still think he speaks well. He didn't appear to use any jargon in that interview, as far as I recall, and was quite clear in what he had to say.
Interesting that he covered a few areas that people on here have expressed concerns about.
    - said he didn't like having to chop and change tactics and line ups but that it was unavoidable.
    - said he knew what his best team was
    - clarified that data alone wouldn't be used to sign players. The data is used to flag players and then it comes down to the eye.

Allardyce's approach worked so well because he made sure players had absolutely no excuses. Johnson needs to adapt a bit of that 'arse covering' method I think.

BSA just described technical expressions to the public in everyday terms. Alright, he predated a lot of the sports science we have now, but he just came across as a normal bloke.

Sometimes LJ just comes across like a smarmy geek.
