I think people need to get some perspective on Dyche. A 7th and a 10th position in 4 years. The entire Burnley squad cost under £85m in total. Now think we bought Almiron, Joelinton and ASM for that! Dyche has a mid table championship team surviving in the PL year after year. Aston villa doesn't £92m Brighton £25m Crystal Palace £20m Fulham £33m Leeds £95m Nufc - £35m Sheffield United - £56m Southampton - £33m WBA- £37m West Ham - £48m Now let's look at Sean Dyche's Burnley. Get this. Spent LESS than a million pounds. The great Biesla spent more than Burnley 's whole squad cost. As did Aston Villa. Fulham even with their whole team of loans spent over 30 times more.
This is someone that's had their musli! Basically if newcastle want to get to the next level they need a manager that the players look at and think.. Oh I'll go there and one that's demonstrated at more than one club that they can coach in a modern style of play. Dyche, wilder, bruce? it's all the same ****.
And Pulis, Pardew, Allardyce, Hodgson, Moyes, blah blah. Dyche has a slightly better reputation than the others cos of what he's done at Burnley and hadn't yet joined the lower league manager merry-go-round of ****ness. Sure as hell don't want him here though.
He ain't leaving Leeds, got the players he wants and got far more backing than he could hope for here. If he moves he'd go to Arsenal or Spurs or something, way too good for us.
Agree with your comments. Having said that, there is no proof he is any better with money to spend. Without a takeover he would do similar to Bruce IMHO. Maybe a bit more settled and more work rate possibly.
Agreed. I’m very surprised Spurs are not after him. He’s in the same mould as Benetez with regard to reputation. I know Bielsa is rated as a top top manager and he is. But has he managed a top top club?
I'd take anyone that's demonstrated at more than one club that they can coach in a modern passing style of play. I'd also like someone the players don't think Meh when it's announced and that players want to sign for.... It all matters
Latest odds for our next manager, Rafa ain't gonna come back, and apart from that it's the usual old knackers who would take any job.
Nobody thought Benitez would... Its a classic case of selling yourself short... Timing is important also.. Sometimes someone is available and their stock has been lowered sufficiently. Newcastle is still capable of attracting a better manager than the crap in reading about imo. It's of course Ashley and Charnley who's responsible for it, so I'm pretty sure of the takeover happens it'll be Dyche or wilder... It's very easy to predict actually. Right now of anything at all if rather just stick with Bruce and Jones because things have improved
Tbh Benitez has been a one off if you compare what came before (McClaren, Carver, Pardew, Houghton, Kinnear) and what came after (Bruce). The Keegan debacle and Ashley's reputation have made any half decent managers steer clear, the days of having flashy managers like Keegan, Robson, Dalglish, Guillit etc are definitely a thing of the past. We got lucky with Benitez as he'd recently had a few bad experiences with his last 2 jobs at Chelsea and Napoli, and accepted a job that was probably beneath him where he could rebuild his reputation somewhat. Once he'd done that, and realised the situation he was stuck with, he was off.
