Conversely, thank god the pubs are open again. They might have some daft rules but at least I can have a pint with my mates and keep safe. (Glass half full)
Must be awful for you when you go abroad and they bring the drinks to you at your table. Or do you embrace the local culture by only drinking in Red Lions and Irish bars?
I've come to quite like the business of ordering from the table via app, saves all that crush at the bar hoping the bar staff know whose turn it is next.
Different set up abroad, that’s the way they’re set up, especially the US. Over here, it’s IF they remember you. I don’t know why it’s just not, stand back from the bar, order, pick up drink, sit down, probably safer, as everyone is wearing a mask, sitting down, no one is.
I much prefer it. I'm not sure how it'll pan out in a full pub, but I'm hoping some pubs at least keep it on.
Greek Islands are my favorite holiday destinations and it's the norm to just raise your hand and they'll just come take your order and bring your drink. I just don't get on with that and just go to the bar and order a pint of Mythos, then when I've drank it I'll take my empty back and ask for another. They really appreciate it. In fact you'll often get told "Oh you are so lovely" by a beautiful barmaid and then I'd say "Not as lovely as you". I've even managed to get a couple of dates that way. Being an English Gentleman can have its rewards
Based on absolutely no knowledge whatsoever, I wonder if a hybrid would work. Bar staff delivering to tables and a small part of the bar for stander uppers. Actually I suppose Tim Martin’s pubs have been doing that for a while? If it was widespread it might employ more beer deliverers and up their profits because you don’t have to waste valuable drinking time queuing?
Apart from the obvious good numbers, what caught my eye on this was the relative population densities. Edit: It's the second table for Yorkshire. No idea why it feels the need to put t'other one as well.
Dr Zubaida Haque: "This is really concerning. The government are carrying out human guinea-pig experiments in Liverpool to see *whether or not transmission increases* (which may result in hospitalisations and death) if clubbers only take (unreliable) lateral flow tests before mass events." Seems reasonable to me ...
Given it's all pretty much a one off, even doing nothing would be experimental, with us all as Guinea Pigs*.. *Do they actually use Guinea pigs, or is it just a more fluffy wording than calling people lab rats?
