Is Scotland independent yet?

 

The original ‘once in a generation’ Scottish Independence Referendum was held in 2014. Remain won it.
The EU Membership Referendum was held in 2016. Leave won it.
In what respect are they seeking a Referendum on the back of being ousted from Europe?
The United Kingdom left the EU of its own accord. It was not ousted.

The desire of the SNP to be run from Brussels rather than London does appear to be a strange sort of Independence. Perhaps Scots recognise the dwindling significance of Europe globally as a status that they wish to enjoy.

The desperate Scottish National Party will argue that black is white if it gets them another Referendum. The fact that Scotland voted 62 per cent Remain in a Referendum of the United Kingdom is irrelevant. The four National capitals voted Remain, pretty much everywhere that voted Remain belonged to the Metropolitan Elite who think they know best and had the most to gain from the status quo.

 

They can have as many votes as they like. The Scottish Independence Referendum (Franchise) Act 2013, which was passed by the Westminster Parliament and the Scottish Parliament, stated that the authority to hold a Referendum rested with the United Kingdom government at Westminster. That Act was automatically repealed in 2015. Only the Westminster Parliament can grant a new Referendum because it would be a subsidiary of the Representation of the People Act 1983.

We then have another referendum and only let bame people and vegans vote this time.

It depends whether an independent review would accept Scotland's share of UK national debt according to GER accounting. Railways, buses, NHS services have slewed and left communities ever so pleased about the London Olympics and HS2, motorway construction and inner city regeneration across England that they pay for with the UK debt.

Ironically an independent Scotland that was never part of any Union would, in all likelihood, be an oil-rich nation with a diverse and strong export driven economy free of debt

The fact remains that Scotland cannot meet EU conditions for membership carrying such debt ...ce la vie, however I suspect that the historical accounting (ie loading Scotland's accounts with expenditure that was not geographically apportioned, but based on population size) will be challenged
