Ladies & gentlemen, boys & girls .............it brings me great pleasure to announce the latest inductee into the Queens Park Rangers 50th Year Members Club, would you please be upstanding and give a big hand to 'Didley Squat'....... ( otherwise known as, AussieQPR ) ....... for loyal and life long service.

Says Didley, " It was the Australian winter of 1971, as a young impressionable 10 year old, l took a liking to QPR. My brother was a Liverpool supporter and l don't know why, but l stuck with the Hoops.... l'm glad l did."

Footnote - Please note this thread / Members Club, is run on a tight budget ( like our club ) and requires inductees to self nominate and regulate. Any fraudulent appointments will be redirected to the fake Hoops ( Reading FC Club ).

I know there are numerous other members here that ‘have the keys’ and would hope they be acknowledged on this thread too.

    We could have a .....

    - A Ten, Twenty, Quarter Century, Thirty, Forty Year Members Board as well. With people’s input, l’d be happy to write it up and manage it as well.

Over to you all, your thoughts?

    I miscalculated the other day.

My 50th anniversary will be 30 September 2022 (QPR 3 Cardiff 0 30/09/72). There will be a parade. Probably.

This coming season will be my 55th year I’ve followed Rangers through thin and thin.
I played at the KPFS today with the over 50’s walking football team.

QPR 6 Doncaster Rovers 0. Rodney Marsh hat trick was when I lost my virginity. Saturday 17th September 1966. I seem to recall that something else happened that year

I am a relative newcomer - first was Boxing Day 1980

2nd div, 1st place West hm 0, 14th place QPR 3. Home support in the School End on account of construction ongoing in the far end. The Fulham supporter I was with on the day promised me a much more entertaining match at the Cottage but I wanted to see my lads. And they came through for me.

First began following them in World Cup year, first match I saw was in October 1968 so it's well over the 50 either way. There was just something about our home games that was so exciting back then...

**** me, there's some old codgers on here!

Started watching in 75/76 season, can't really remember what my first game was, but my Dad took me to a few games that year. We'd moved up to London from Oxford and lived just off The Vale where it meets Uxbridge Road, I was six. Obviously our most successful season trapped me into years of supporting the Hoops, but wouldn't have it any other way!

    Well done mate, classic stuff.
Great to read everybodys replies, as you all say, where have the years gone.

I blame the old Shoot magazine for my latching onto Queens Park Rangers.

I am a mere spring chicken having only supported the club since 1974. The first game of live football I saw was Ireland v USSR back in 1974. A certain Don Givens scored a hat trick and that was it, I was hooked. I looked out for him every Saturday night as a kid on Match of the Day or every Sunday on The Big Match. Thousands of matches later, I suppose the pandemic has put a stop to the travelling over for games but I sure miss the social element of meeting people I know, some of whom have become very close friends.

Really looking forward to the Autumn and resuming the interest and going to some games and seeing some of the regulars. I doubt I will go to many games as I am not as free time wise as I was with a recent career change.

Well done to all you loyal supporters who have supported our club through some great and some not so great times. It takes dedication to stick with a club like QPR. The powerful highs (like Wembley 2014) make the lows a lot more bearable. Be proud of who you support and be proud that we are a proper football club.

I've been going since I was two. I grew up in the flats behind the away (School) end I had a broken leg and it was in plaster after climbing on-board a stationary motor bike that toppled against me. After my first game I was missing , and my mother found me at Shepherds Bush police station afterwards. I can't remember the game but the away side were playing in all white. Preston? Thereafter all the dads and relatives used to take us toddlers to the games and held us above their shoulders in what would be the West Paddock now. I can still recall the smell of stale beer, fags and burgers with onions now.
So I make that 52/53 years?

I know that I was very young, but I do have a very odd memory. I can still memorise standing up in my cot and the purple wallpaper on my parents bedroom walls. Strange. The floodlights from Loftus Road used to illuminate our flat. I didn't have a choice really. A moth drawn towards the flame.

At some stage during the 73-74 season (I think), saw Terry Venables and Mancini on the Big Match in one of the "funnies" - to the tune of yakkety yak... loved the kit and started taking an interest as most other boys in Senior school were following Leeds, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd (FA Cup was the only live game on TV at the time). My best mate Theo was already on them as was one other, Russell. We had our own little supporters group that was more interesting than anything else in school. Always chose Stan Bowles name when playing at break times.

Cried the night Liverpool beat Wolves. Never forgiven Phil Boyer (probably more the ref and lino).

Didn't get to Loftus Road (or London in fact) til 1983/84 season. First match I went to was the 2-0 at Highbury, then a few weeks later at HQ for 2-1 win over Coventry... a few years off 50 for me..

1st Rangers game I clearly remember being at was the 1st game of the 75/76 season home to Liverpool, when we won 2-0. Gerry scored the 1st Division Goal of the Season, Leach a beaut too. I was a regular in the Loft forever after, when in the Country. I was in the Ellersley that day we beat Pool, have a vague memory of being in the Loft the season before but can't remember more, we'd probably lost.
