I try to look for the positives but I am struggling tonight. Too many of these players are simply nowhere near good enough. Basic mistakes like the second goal, unable to finish the simplest of headed chances, need a half time bollocking (i assume) to put the effort in. I am also going to question the desire of some. I will no doubt be pilloried but I am not putting much blame on Johnson, this is mostly about player individual peformance for me. Johnson isnt perfect and gets stuff wrong, but he has had 5 months, these players have had 3 years in a lot of cases. I see people calling for Johnson to go, fair enough its your opinion, but for me that makes little sense. They picked him and I doubt they will sack him because he hasnt been able to make a silk purse from a pigs ear. Whoever is in charge needs a whole new squad with a very different mentality and ability. If Speakman and him and others have worked up the recruitment plan why get another coach in to follow someone elses plan. We have tried the old school managers and methods and that failed miserably, we are trying a modern method that works in loads of more successful clubs than us - might as well give it a chance to succeed or fail in my opinion. I dont see a way back Saturday unfortunately. It just feels like we have seen the limits of this bunch and they are heavily exposed. Would love to be wrong...
Let's put this into perspective. We lost to 2 lucky goals, a deflection that fell to their player and a hand of God. We were denied by some some superb goalkeeping and just have to score 3 on Saturday. Luck has to run our way on Saturday and I believe we'll succeed...... Hawaay ya twats
I agree but take mcgeady out and there isn’t another player who is capable of filling the void. He’s been excellent since coming back in and has probably ensured Johnson is safe til Christmas at least.
No gambling on 2nd balls in danger area was frustrating. Scowen seems to turn and play the wrong pass each time. One-footed or no vision, not sure. Flanagan's slow motion, telegraphed back pass. Fraction of luck and we score tonight, though.
Flanagan always has a mistake in him game after game he costs us a late goal, you dont need a coaching badge or a lot of research to identify this he is crap just like McFudge they are simply not good enough.
Clear and level opinion of the game and season really. Imo promotion was never really a must for KLD, however next season if we are still in L1, it will be and he'll want it by a country mile. After watching that tonight, Lincoln wanted it more but we should have been good enough to match them. The attitude of most of the players was one of "we'll im out of a job next week so what do I care". Said it for three seasons now, they don't want to go up. They have had their shot at a club they would otherwise never have played for. Yes they won a trophy but thats for them to say "I won a trophy at Wembley" for years to come. I plan to still enjoy myself on Saturday and while it's still only "half time", I'll be glad to see the back of all the players that remind us of failure, Charlie, Donald and everything else that's been the shambles of the last 3 seasons. In closing, I hope everyone still enjoys the game on Saturday and FTM.
Absolutely with regards Johnson and where the blame lies. The squad has some serious limitations but we've previously got decent results with these players so I see no reason why it can't be turned round.
I can't fume at League 1 players, they are what they are... the Championship relegation shower of ****e...aye.
well i agree with most of what has been said but still feel the need to vent...and again, if we do not put the ball in exactly the right place for wyke, while he is facing the goal and under 5 yards out he does feck all...not meaning to have a 'pop' at the bloke as his goals and being in the right place etc have given us this chance, my point being if we are going to rely on him then make feckin sure we get the service into him, utilise the strength of your players, he will never be scoring goals like vardy for instance. gooch, onien and maybe scowen take a wee bow lads for at least showing some fight and passion, every single time a ball broke it was a lincoln player busting a gut to get on the end of it, rubbish back pass from flan, worse 'clearance' from burge...this game also showed our complete lack of any real pace in the squad, other teams know if they have a couple of fast lads then they can break on us easily. finally, the lincoln fans (well done all) got behind the team well and if 3k can make that sort of noise then 10k at the SoL will make them crap themselves... need an early goal or two but even if we make it, on that performance blackpool are going up
As you all know I'm not a regular contributor to this board. So what i say means nothing to you all and I accept that no probs. LJ not even using Maguire tonight worries me about him (LJ) We have IN MY OPINION the best squad of players in this division. We got into a great position 4 weeks ago and bottled it. Ok it's not HIS team and he took us from 10th to the play offs but I just don't think he's the man to get us up. He talks a great game but he's chopping and changing too much for me. Why play Gooch in midfield when there are natural midfielders like Winchester or others? If he wants to play Gooch put him out wide! I know it's hindsight but I would have started with Ross up top. BTW I haven't read any of the posts from earlier so haven't got a clue what's been said.
