The press would love it, another Wembley heartache etc. We would probably sell whatever tickets we get and it would be torture. I know what you're saying and I would love us to have the opportunity at Wembley cos it's a funny old game (someone once said) but the form of us compared to Blackpool is ridiculous.
Was awful but really we should have been 2-0 down at half time and kept it at 0-0 second half. We were way better second half. I’ve still got a weird feeling we will turn this one around.
Here's some jargon for you. 1 down and, with lack of any open game threat as we were turgid in midfield with lack of pace so he brings Leadbitter on. 2 down at 77mins and he left it until 90th minute to bring Diamond on. That isn't the players letting him down, that is just ****e management!
The introduction of Leadbitter completely changed the game man. We looked much more likely to score with him pulling the strings. That was excellent management, recognising what would change the game. He can't legislate for Flanagan's poor back pass.
Had enough time to calm down now so time for my thoughts. We started poorly but became more of a threat as the game went on. Ironically they scored both of there goals when we were having our best spells. The 2 goals were poor the 1st a typical league 1 scruff fest the 2nd the kind of goal you concede once every 5 seasons. There keeper made a very good save from Jones then Wright missed a ****ing sitter 2 mins before they got the 1st goal so we probably should have went 1-0 up. All ifs and buts of course. Did we play well? No Were we unlucky? Yes Were they 2 goals better than us? No Will we turn it around? Probably Not Annoying as **** that this has happened tonight of all nights but I dont think the players bottled it. Yes they probably arent good enough to go up but I dont think there was a lack of effort just quality. We need a massive overhaul in the summer theres no question of that but in my opinion with a bit more luck we would have score 2 or 3 tonight Mcgeady had 2 good chances by his standard would normally expect him to score 1 of those and as I mentioned I'm still not sure how Wright failed to score. If we get the 1st goal on saturday it's back on but I think overturning 2 goals is beyond this team. Hope to **** I'm wrong like and I'll still be getting behind them on Saturday useless or not.
One of 3 errors that resulted in the goal? Yet surely the only one which matters? The other two become completely irrelevant if that ball hits the forward and goes anywhere but where it did (which 99% of those do) or if he gets enough on it and Burge clears to safety. Why do the other 2 matter? McGeady made 3 errors which cost us 3 goals and a win.
I disagree - we looked more likely to score before he came on and once on our chances didn't involve Grant.
You must have been watching a different game to me then. Leadbitter was playing the ball forward and creating forward momentum. Unlike Power who looked devoid of ideas and constantly turned backwards.
Yeah i agree we need to brink Leadbitter and Stewart in on Saturday and tell Flanagan and Macfadzean to stay in Lincoln for another week or 10
Not sure how do you get that? They had 1 good chance which Burge superbly saved and hit the post with another which I never thought was going in from the moment he hit it (even said “that’s missed” just after he hit it.) surely if we “should’ve been 2-0 down” then we “should’ve been 1-0 up” before they scored?
I agree. Weve won 1 in 10 so logic says we have no chance of overhauling a 2 goal deficit against one if the better teams in our league. One thing is for definite tho if we go 1-0 up on saturday we will all be getting excited again. Pressure and momentum do real funny things in sport so there is still hope and who knows maybe we will get our portion of luck on saturday.
