In one way (not to be taken incorrectly) I am pleased for his family and friends that he is no longer suffering... To the Hull City football family this is a sad sad day... perhaps with a few others, the pinnacle of players to have graced the shirt and the football field for HCAFC... Thank you Chris Chilton for so many childhood memories... RIP taken too early..

Chillo and Waggy and that whole team were an absolute joy to watch. A true legend. You always expected him to score each time he played and very often he did. The best compliment to the 20/21 League One champions team is that some of their attacking play was reminiscent of that so exciting 60s team.

Genuinely sad news. A giant of a player. Local lad who played at a time when the rewards where low. Read his book again not long ago. Great stories. Great great player. RIP.

In every match I saw Chis Chilton play, he worked tirelessly, never shirked responsibility, exhibited enormous skill and was the epitomy of a team player. Also a fair and honest professional in every thing he did. So much pleasure given by him, he'll never be forgotten.

    Rest in peace Chris.

Sad, sad news today. I was fortunate enough to see every home game Chris played in for City from the back end of 1964 to him joining Coventry. He was in all honesty the best centre forward I have ever seen wearing our number 9 shirt. Every fan at every club knew of Chris Chilton, Hull City's centre forward. His heading ability was legendry. I remember one such headed goal v Leicester against Peter Shilton at the South Stand end, He headed in a cross from just inside the penalty area. We beat them 4-0. Terry Tigers Topple Table Toppers headlined the Green Sports Mail.
Met him in later life on several occasions and every meeting was an honour for me. He was 100% Hull City and not many of our old players can be remembered like that. As passed players go he is up there with Andy Davidson in my eyes. Hull City through and through.
As legends go, Chris Chilton was the genuine article.

Chris Chilton was indeed the best Number 9 City have ever had, an opinion based on comments from my dad and family, along with seeing him myself. Players come and go, but Chris not only played for his hometown club, but managed and coached along with a multitude of other tasks during some of our 'dark days'.

'CHILLO My Life Story' will be coming out for another read later.

A true City Legend in every respect. RIP

Yes, I was there for the testimonial. So many there that thousands wouldn't get in to the stadium now. Great player, and great bloke. Always had time to chat to fans at away matches.

He scored the first goal I ever saw at City - a bullet of a shot at the Bunkers Hill end, start of a 2-2 draw with Barnsley. A great player with a smashing personality. My dad used to play dominoes with him and Andy Davidson and, although he wasn't a football fan, thought very highly of them both.
