Good call but I have the feeling that he will have to earn that position as there will be little room for sentiment in this new organisation
I'm not his biggest fan and he wasn't who I wanted but he's here now and deserves his chance with a full pre season and players he wants in the system he wants. I just bloody hope that system isn't that stupid 4-2-2-2! He's said he likes 3 at the back with wing backs so I'm looking forward to seeing that next season.
Thank god we have KLD. I wouldn’t see a way forward without that. But what a total waste of 3 years. Nice one Donald you utter...., There’s no one out of contract I’d want to keep except O’Nein, who will likely be off now. Maybe gooch if he could his head up. I think Flanagan already got an extra year? If so hopefully he won’t play much, but looks like LJ likes him, which is a big question mark for me on LJ. As for getting rid of LJ, he can stay but I don’t think he’s done anything to demonstrate he’s earned it if speakman and kld think otherwise.
I'd only keep Hume, Onien and possibly Mcgeady at a push. But tbh I'm pretty sick of this squad so whatever the gaffer wants to do is fine with me.
Right I want them all gone except a couple of young ones. I wonder if we will actually pay anyone off?
That's the first thing that went through my head. He is one of us and this will be hurting him just as much as its hurting us.
And none of it is his fault. He came here to help as any of us would love to be able to do. He’s been badly let down like we all have - Not firing Ross when it was apparent was needed, Replacing mcglochlin with burge, signing McFadzean, replacing honeyman with scowen and Winchester (who I think was as LJ pick for the championship?), the list is endless.
Unlucky lads. Would have been so different if Wyke hadn't fluffed the best chance of the game or if the penalty had been given; Game could have been sewn up Hopefully we'll go up together next season
reet, LJ has to stay... he actually got some kind of tune out of the squad, maybe they were not playing out and out attractive football but they found a way to win... probably carried some luck as well but what team does not? he did not have a great start, with injuries, covid break, two games per week he has not really had much time to work with them all and he has not had the players he needs for his preferred style. he cannot be held responsible for player who cannot pass forwards, cannot find a team mate or have no idea what to do with the ball when they get it but that is what he had to work with. i fully expect quite a clear out, stewart is a lot livelier than wyke will ever be, mcgeady may choose another season, has burge done enough to earn a little more trust from the fans, jones, maguire too inconsitent which is a shame as they can both do far better, gooch, diamond have not really improved and probably been below par...xemhalji(sp) and willis will be fit next season i would probably build defence around them (be excellent if we could persuade dion to join us but i feel he will have much better offers) unfortunately i still have not seen a single midfield combo that has worked for us, whether winchester is the one to build round i have no clue as not seen enough of him, on current form he is not. so maybe a max of around 5 out of the current squad (imho) should be kept, maybe 6 at a push, the rest i dont think anyone would miss. *some may wonder why i did not include wyke...while being in the right place at the right time is a nice instinct i honestly think it has had more to do with players putting the ball in front of him than him knowing where to be, other than the odd goal he seems to do ok when running towards goal and the ball is played directly into his path...look at today, clear on goal, clear path to goal IF he had just hit it with his left foot it was 2-0 yet he pissed about to get it on his right, as a target man he falls over a lot but rarely jumps for the ball, preferring to hold a player or foul him and cannot chase a ball down the way stewart does, there is relying on others to provide as most strikers do then there is needing other players to put the ball on a sixpence for you, we need strikers who can pick a ball up and go on to score not just let it bounce off them. (apologies to his many fans who will leap out to defend him here but he is actually very limited, especially in this squad and despite his goals i do not feel he will get anywhere near next season or maybe ever again)
I hadn't realised Lee Johnson was your manager these days. A shame it doesn't seem to be working out for him and lots of you want him out, cos he did a good job at Bristol City, and a few years ago I had him down as a good young manager with a lot of potential.
So why does he not play three at the back, if he says he likes it, we have had a lot of injuries in our back four but I can not remember a time he played three at the back, even when players were available to do this. He says one thing and does another and his substitutions have got worse and worse as the season has progressed and he never picks a side that looks like its the best available, If he stays, I would like him to stay as coach only, and have no say whatsoever in the recruitment of players, as his judgement is absoloutly shocking, sending Flanagan on when we needed a goal what was that all about, he took off Stewart and Maguire and never used Jones but puts Flanagan on iwhen we are desperate for a goal.
