I assumed Jones was on the train back up to Glasgow at HT. It was strange the Maguire didn't come on in the first leg and strange that Jones didn't come on in this one (as bad as he was in the first leg.) We needed a goal and had Jones or Flanno on the bench......on yer gan Tom laad, get us a goal.
It is working out for him. He's won 19 of 39 games in charge and only lost 8. Given the state of our squad and the injuries we've had, that's pretty good. People just don't like him for some reason and look for any excuse to criticise him.
Best we’ve played in 5-6 months, let’s not **** about the club is screaming for help. Positive, this seasons big win was the ownership. I’m gonna hold onto that but o won’t lie, I don’t know where we go from here. Aye it’s current pain but I feel like we might just ‘exist’ for a while. I do t see a walk out. The club is rotten, I hope the visible fresh eyes of the new ownership can tear it apart. I’ll take yet another year in this horrific, pointless league to start the rebirth right. Big club, big history. Absolutely nothing.
I think it's cos us northerners don't understand business speak. Sure I heard someone say that in the not too distant past...
I think it's just that people are upset and lost all those games when we had the chance on promotion, so he's getting blamed for not having enough lipstick for the pig. I'm neutral on whether he stays or not. That's the advantage of the director of football model. You should be able to keep continuity even if you change the coach, if he's making strange subs, demotivating half time talks or whatever. I think a lot of coaches would get us out of this division with this squad fit plus a goal keeper that doesn't make serious errors every few games.
Shhhh. It's not the fans fault. I disagree on the coaches. I think there are very few coaches who could comprehend the size of the club let alone get us promoted from this division. The facilities, stadium and fans are off the scale for this level.
I don't blame LJ one bit for the season. Because of defensive injuries he's had to plug holes and I can't remember when (if ever) he's had a full team of 1st choice players, all playing in their proper positions. He's had to play arguably our best midfield player at right back and central defence ffs. The (bad) turning point was when we lost Sanderson cos we've looked shaky ever since, had we kept him I think we'd have a game on next weekend. Next season will be different......
How many have been given their marching orders so far? Should have managed to let at least a few know they are not going to be here next season.
He's earned his chance next season imo. For lots of reasons. If he'd of started this season he'd of probably got us up. I'm expecting us to be storming next season. Not just through Johnson but with all the other things KLD is putting/has put in place.
The Referee and officials have hardly received a mention and personally I think they were extremely POOR , the Lincoln keeper must have been his love child as he got away with a penalty , must have been warned about time wasting 15-20 times without any action being taken and when clearing from his area was frequently carrying the ball outside of the box . EFL 1 final officials - please take note !
The ref was pathetic, we have injured player down and then they get a penalty, time wasting galore let's see what happens at Liverpool if Palace time waste tomorrow.
I can’t fault the lads tonight. Rub of the green we win that game by 4. Massive clear out starts now. New start. All we needed this year was the ownership fixed. That happened. Another kick in the bollocks for sure, but the future is there, we aren’t in a pit, we aren’t held back. The best things take time. We get there. We be right. We are Sunderland. Waatched the game with a pal who’s a Coventry lad. He said ‘mad how a club like that isn’t Premier League’ He’s right. We know it. We will be.
At the risk if sounding like a right ****ing masochist, are there extended highlights of today's game anywhere?
