Hope so. Burge, dobson, grigg and O'brien simply have to go imo. One or two others wouldn't be great losses either. Great to see young players moving up. They've got a couple of months to get ready! Really looking forward and curious to see who we bring in to play along side them mind.

That's the way I see it. The 4 you mention will likely be moved on. Grigg and MK Dons seemed to like each other, so that might be a start. by my reckoning, 9 or 10 new faces needed. I made it 3 full backs, 1 or 2 CB's, 2 CM and 2 or 3 Strikers. That's presuming Patterson will move up. He may decide to get another keeper in and send Patterson out on loan to get League experience, so it could be as many as 11 in.

Shaping up to be quite exciting. Hopefully we are cracking on now and have started putting feelers out already.

BIG summer ahead for the club.

Don’t worry, he’s been banging that drum for ages now! Think he just wants to be controversial!! O’Nien is exactly the type of player we need. In every position!! If we had 11 with his drive, ability and attitude, we’d have gone up this season

pretty sure he also said on Twitter that he thought a championship club would take a punt on O’Nien!

Wyke is a lumbering, limited Third Division footballer with ****-all pace - who tries his heart out, which is why I've never had a go at him.

If Boro really are daft enough to pay money for him then take it, and good luck to him too as he gets more money, gets to play art a higher level, and gets to play for the club he supports,. Although I suspect he will be on their subs bench all season.

He’s not “staying “ as such, the article simply says he’s retained as he’s under contract. He may still be sold. He just can’t be given away or allowed to leave without paying him off. I have no issue with him to be honest. Pretty sure he’s saved us more points than he cost us. He’s just an average league 1 keeper.

How many saves did he make which gained us points then? I know of a fair few. Also, in the play offs, he made 2 fantastic saves to ensure we had at least some chance of getting somewhere!

It’s amazing how easy it is to remember all of the bad things he’s done and the mistakes, yet completely forget any of the saves he’s made.

his keeping also won us a cup

Banging your head against a brick wall mate. Some people are saying it's the defence that made him look good, that would be the same makeshift defense cos all our 1st choices were injured.

    He's a good league 1 keeper

Not sure if this has already been asked. But I thought we had a 1 year extension option on Wykes contract?

    I can't remember where I read it, but I'm sure I did

There was a clickbait article in April saying that no extension had been agreed and that CSKA Moscow were looking at him :)

i think we have, thats why they've phrased it as 'ongoing discussions' (about extension clause) rather than being offered a new contract like the other 3. I still think he'll get a better paid offer from elsewhere, so I expect him to leave. If he's got any sense he'll take McGeady with him, cos thats where his goals came from.

Why would Boro need to pay money for him? His contract is up he's available on a free hence chance to markedly increase wages

Wyke has the option I believe, that's why it's been worded like it has

It's true to an extent, soon as Sanderson got injured it was bye bye to clean sheets. While Sanderson was still playing Burge got praised for keeping a clean sheet in games where the oppo literally didn't have a shot on target.

In terms of save % he was one of the best in the league and he had some great moments, it's a shame his pen save in the playoffs wasn't rewarded. However a lot of people want a keeper who is a competent shot stopper but is also a big confident unit who will come for crosses and clear everybody out on the way. Entirely achievable with our resources.

I'd be trying to buy that young goalkeeper lad from Stoke...

Kind of agree nacho. Except that we’re in league 1. Finding a keeper who has all that and is willing to play “down here” will be more of an issue IMO

Maguire is exactly the kind we need out of the club.

He's not a team player, plays his own tactics and, quite obviously, isn't ever fully fit.

Some people must have a crush on him because of a few crap tattoos and the odd moment of magic.

I don't think so, I mean there's Patterson for one and there are several other keepers I've seen at this level who looked the type I mean.

If we're only getting Burge standard players in, as in players who do some things well but have glaring weaknesses, especially if those are related to a lack of confidence, we're going to struggle again. I've got faith the new boys will sort us out.

If it was known Power was to be released, why was he so heavily involved with the first team up to the final game.
