So so funny it had to be posted again ... Ah, an extra groundsman. Player / groundsman role? Clever Ehab.
Callum Elder’s hopes of a first call up to the Australian national team look to be over. Elder as on the wrong end of a callous challenge from Alex Gilbey just half-an-hour into Hull City’s final game of the season at Charlton Athletic on Sunday, and left The Valley after the title celebrations with his left knee in a brace. That brought an abrupt end to a fine season for the ex-Leicester City left-back which had seen him named in the League One Team of the Season. City’s in-form defender had been tipped to receive a first call-up to the Socceroos squad for next month’s quadruple run of World Cup qualifiers, but reports in the Australian media say Elder has torn the medial ligament in his knee following that challenge.
That's a real sickener for him - a hard earned first cap would have finished this season off nicely for him.
It's not only bad news for him and the Aussies .. its bad news for us .. not sure how long that will rule him out for.
Not necessarily bad news for us, as long as being reported he will be okay for preseason, then the fact that he isn't playing games all summer, hopefully, will mean he is rested & fresh for the new season.
Interesting piece in the Liverpool Echo Steven Gerrard and Hull City may have pointed way for next FSG move at Liverpool Hull City and Steven Gerrard's Rangers have both used Zone7 technology to help assist in battle against injuries Zone7 describe themselves as an "Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning to provide injury risk forecasting to clubs". Indeed, the US-based company believe they can predict up to 75% of injuries with an accuracy of 95%. And it clearly worked wonders for Hull, who saw soft tissue injuries drop 48% year-on-year. Andrew Balderston, Hull's Head of Medical Services and Performance, said: “We started using Zone7 in the first lockdown period to retrospectively look at our injuries of that season, as we had picked up a significant number of soft tissue injuries. “Our match injury incidence dropped significantly during the end of the Championship season where we played a compressed nine games in just over a month. “On the back of a very short pre-season period for this season, due to the late finish of last season, using AI has helped us significantly and prompted plenty of internal discussion between medical, conditioning and technical staff.” After relegation in 2020, Hull returned to the Championship at the first time of asking last season. And with calf and hamstring injuries proving troublesome in the previous campaign, both problems dropped significantly last season - much to the benefit of Grant McCann's side. Balderston adds: “[2020/21 was] a very compressed season; 24 games (42%) have been played within three days [of the last match] and 19 games (33%) have been played within four days. “This has meant that for 75% of the season, our players have been having to perform under some form of acute or cumulative fatigue, making these incidence figures even more impressive.” Further north, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has also embraced the technology. Gerrard's Rangers went unbeaten as they clinched their first Scottish Premiership title in 10 years and assistant Jordan Milsom praised the technology for its impact on their season. "I believe AI, coupled with the experience levels of those using it, will eventually become a bedrock within clubs' decision-making as data and technology advances," he said. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo...ws/steven-gerrard-liverpool-fsg-hull-20706820
I believe AI, coupled with the experience levels of those using it, will eventually become a bedrock within clubs' decision-making as data and technology advances," he said. i bet my house gerrard never said that
You are right Chazz. What he said was Calm down, Calm down, I believe AI, coupled with the experience levels of those using it, will eventually become a bedrock within clubs' decision-making as data and technology advances alright.
That piece on how we've embraced AI to address soft tissue injuries is really interesting. We're often critical on here of medical staff but it seems to me they were like the 12th man last season. Quite incredible difference v the season before. Look at how many of our top performers played virtually every game, even though they were coming at the rate of 2 a week. Hard to say how many extra points we gleaned because of this, but quite a lot!
