It seems our local rivals from down the A140 are getting jealous of our success and think they can match us, even do better than us. https://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/ipswich-town-norwich-city-mark-ashton-8021440
The guy is correct. If they get the right people together, with the right levels of investment, good decision making and a bit of patience, there's no reason why Town can't do even better than us. The problem is that "if".
Talk is cheap, it'll be interesting to see what changes at Ipswich this summer, and going forwards. What money is spent, where, etc. Fundamentally, they're a club with a 30,000 capacity stadium, they can fill if the club are doing well, an academy which has traditionally produced good players, and are now backed by fresh investment. Without the need to generate funds as Norwich have, they should be able to kickstart some of that progress this summer. Give Portman Road more than a lick of paint, invest in the training facilities, get a cat. 1 academy...and maybe they can start to replicate Norwich. If the talk of signing Defoe is a more accurate reflection of their intent, then perhaps they aren't using us as a blueprint...
With the right investment? I think they look a spine short of promotion. Perhaps they would like to take our route in another way by buying: klose, Trysull and drmic from us! Bah!
Didn't Evans make the same promises when he took them over as a Championship Club? Remind me where they are now.
Didn't he just promise to take them out of the Championship? Think that was mission accomplished so he left, right?
It's the 'fighting talk' you hear when you have just told the world you have lots of money to spend. They have scrapped the salary caps for the lower leagues (shame I thought they were a good idea), maybe they are just going to try and spend their way out
