I have read Paul Mason's total dirge and read Southgate's open letter, Mason is just a nasty leftie, as for Southgate's open letter I would give it far more credence if he then backed it up with, "England players will refuse to play in the 2022 Qatar world cup and further refuse to endorse sweat shop made goods". A world cup that along with Russia's bid was totally corrupt and given to 2 countries with incredibly poor records of racism, human rights abuses, sponsorship of terrorism and state sponsored murder in other countries.

But no the newly found politically aware spoilt millionaires will be fully aboard that multi million pound gravy train along with Saint Gary and his sycophants.

I won't be watching the Euro's and won't be watching next years world cup.

I shall mostly be watching the tour de France.

    Interesting isn't it?

I know an ex-copper who worked in the middle of Bristol. He stopped cars on a regular basis and often issued the driver with a producer. Part of that form consisted of a self titled race classification; the driver would be asked whether he/she was white, black etc., etc. On a regular basis he would get young black people classifying them selves as "n"!! Looking after his own back, he wouldn't write it on the form himself, so would ask the driver to write it then sign the form. He then made a Police notebook entry of what had happened!!

    Nothing like making things easy!!

It is interesting and opens up yet another hypocrisy.

In rap and hip hop music, the use of the 'N' word, the glorifying of murder and rape, homophobia and much more is used liberally and nobody bats an eyelid.

And some glorify the killing of Police
But because it's 'art' created by minority groups they can literally get away with murder
1 in 5 songs downloaded are (C) RAP so that tells you where we're headed

There is another irony/hypocrisy, rap and hip hop artists rely on a huge amount of white people to buy their music, but get the arse when those same people actually sing the lyrics.

    I could do a link a day.

England: Kick It Out and Football Supporters' Association urge fans to 'drown out boos' - BBC Sport

"Fans who make their first act after the referee's whistle booing their own team's stance against racism, should be ashamed of themselves," said the FSA's chief executive Kevin Miles.

The FSA is there to act as advocates for fans. Its a representative body. That taking the knee is creating a problem is a truth. By telling fans if they boo they should be ashamed of themselves the FSA is not representing supporters or acting as advocates.

Here is another one to join yours.
England players being booed for taking a knee considered 'a racist act' by officials, according to senior football administrator
Kick It Out chief executive Tony Burnett issues a rallying call to supporters to 'drown out the idiots' until the situation becomes a non-issue; England boss Gareth Southgate's pleas to respect the gesture were once again ignored by a small section of crowd at Romania game on Sunday
'Booing England players for taking a knee has sinister undertones'

Scotland are apparently the latest team to not take the knee, stating that the meaning has been diluted.

To the FSA's chief executive Kevin Miles any international team 'supposedly' taking a stand against racism, that will play in the 2022 Qatar world cup should be ashamed of themselves.

Frankly I am sick to death with all of this race nonsense and just wish the daily diatribe I read about the situation makes it even worse. There are some things in our world that will never change despite all kinds of efforts and meetings to change the system and it's time for the world to wake up and realize that these so called inequities don't stand a chance of ever being settled. On that list I would include Arab/Jewish peace which includes any resolution to the ongoing sectarian violence within the various Islamic sects and overall ongoing harmony anywhere in the Middle East.

Most, if not all, issues that will never go away are based on religion and the non-acceptance of anyone who thinks differently. We have only one shot at enjoying this beautiful world on which we live and it boggles my mind at the vast number of groups and individuals that want to screw it up. Wake up idiots and smell the roses.

There is a VERY heated debate raging on OTIB about this.
    A real battle.

I don’t think the ‘taking the knee’ gesture does what it was supposed to do any more. It’s run it’s course. However, there are plenty who disagree and feel it still emphasis a serious message.
That’s fine by me - they can do what they like. I won’t boo them - in fact I’ll ignore them.

The FA and the players decided to put contention/politics (?) into the game. Polling shows that they are in the minority.

In regards to a yougov poll a majority of fans support the taking of the knee 54% v 39% opposed but 57% do not think its not that important in tackling racism v 37% who do.

An important message is lost behind a gesture. Drop the gesture to improve the message.

"Scotland will join England in taking a knee when the teams meet at Wembley but will STAND against racism in their home group matches at Euro 2020". Theres an idea.
