Walker-Peters, David Button as 3rd choice and replace Hart, Jake Livermore on loan and loan out Skipp, Steven Caulker... erm, yeah...

Don't suppose we'll be getting any of Epic Games' sweet, sweet Chinese blood money for this?

I thought exactly the same thing mate. Skipp has played CB for our youths in the past too.
Have Alderweireld and a top LCB either side of him.

After reading and watching some videos about Fonseca and how he sets up his teams this is how his team could look next season ( kept Kane in there for now) and put Aaron's and Thuram in.

    Lloris

    Alderweireld Skipp New CB

    Aarons Hojbjerg LoCelso Reguilon

    Thuram Kane Son

It’s worth noting that he played 4231 extensively before reasonably recently going to 343 so we may expect that too. Even with the 4 though, one of the midfielders in the pivot will split the CBs in possession, as Dier used to under Poch before we played that season with 3 at the back.

If we’re theorising then I think Sabitzer begins to make even more sense. He can play on the right of the attacking 3 or in the pivot alongside Højbjerg/Skipp in the 343, or as a 10 or on the right in 4231. In the 3 he’d be more of the creative influence, maybe dropping back to progress the ball or drifting into the 10 position behind Son and Kane. When he’s played out wide in Germany AFAIK he played a bit like Ziyech did at Ajax - will center the ball when he can but also drifts infield to be a playmaker from wide and let the RB overlap. He’s got tremendous workrate and flexibility so he can make it work either way.

Fonseca could be an interesting coach but the transfer activity, especially in the defence, is going to be the big issue. Moving the right players on is a must at this stage.

Stupid move by our club. £15m is nothing for a player with his potential. Wish we had kept him. He would have been ideal in a back three. Could have played the ball playing libero role that Fonseca likes.

I’m not a massive fan of Foyth so not overly bothered he’s been sold. Makes a lot of mistakes. Means the club can use that money to get a suitable centre back.

I’m not overly fussed if truth be told. A player with a lot of ability but also a lot of mistakes in his system. Not sure he’s suited to English football. Will likely go on to have a good career though but I don’t feel like it’s “one that got away”.

Sadly this has to be added to the list of Poch's Poor Purchases. Spent something like 4 weeks chasing his signature then he goes on to make 16 appearances in 3 years before being sold at minimal profit.

I can see why Poch and co chased him, certainly someone with potential and ability but I’m just not sure he was right at the time for Premier League football. Was never solid enough and wasn’t always smart with the ball despite probably being the second best defender technically after Vertonghen. Will probably become a top player in Spain though and then possibly return to England or elsewhere at some point.

That’s now around £13m extra to spend too, not a massive amount but hopefully this is the start of a clear out, if we get a few more of these out the door with the likes of Dier, Sanchez, Aurier, Winks, Sissoko, Lamela etc then we’ll end up raising a solid enough amount for a couple good signings, clears primarily a lot of non-HG deadwood too which we’ve overloaded on a bit too much. Being in the ECL this season I’d like to think we won’t need to replace too many all at once either as players like Tanganga, Rodon, White, Skipp, Clarke, Parrott etc can get substantial minutes.

Snippet from Ally Gold’s latest piece:

“Paratici has already been working on the club's transfer plans this summer, looking to raise funds through sales and football.london understands that a number of Spurs players have been told that they can leave this summer and their agents informed they can look for prospective new clubs as the north London outfit look to shake up their squad.”

Probably move to City in a couple of years for £50m plus. I hope we have a sell on clause.

Agent Poch’s secret mission of using PSG’s wealth to sign all our dead wood for £££££ only to leave and return to Spurs for his “painful rebuild”.
