Such sad news about Christian collapsing during the Denmark vs Finland match and receiving CPR on the pitch. Let's all hope that he recovers well and returns to the field some time soon. Events like this prove there are greater things than the sport and the response to his medical issue has been overwhelming on social media. Good luck from us all for a speedy recovery Christian.
Thoughts and prayers are with him from the R&W camp here in Swindon. From the TV reports he’s ok and the game will be going ahead at 7:30pm UK time. Good news.

The last four minutes of the first half will be played, there will then be a 5-minute half-time break followed by the second half
The Danish FA has just tweeted (via Google translate): "Christian Eriksen is awake and his condition remains stable. He remains hospitalized at Rigshospitalet for further examinations. The match against Finland will be played tonight. This happens after the players have been confirmed that Christian is okay. The match resumes at 20.30."
Been out all day, only heard the news 10.30, latest news he is awake and stable. Hopefully he will make a full recovery.
I heard that Christian called his team mates from the hospital to complete the match. If that is indeed the case then it hopefully is a good sign for a good recovery. Keep well Christian.
It was a Cardiac Arrest, not a Heart Attack (I always thought they were one and the same thing, but apparently not). This is good news - this MIGHT mean that he could play again - although he would be banned in Italy and England. Didn't Edgar Davids (??) have a similar problem, but was allowed to continue playing with the proviso that there was a specialist heart team always at the side of the pitch in case he collapsed???? From the Daily Mail (so it MUST be true....!): WHAT IS A CARDIAC ARREST? HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM A HEART ATTACK? A heart attack and a cardiac arrest are not the same thing A cardiac arrest is when a person's heart stops pumping blood around their body and they stop breathing normally A heart attack is when one of the coronary arteries becomes blocked. The heart muscle is robbed of its vital blood supply and, if left untreated, will begin to die because it is not getting enough oxygen Many cardiac arrests in adults happen because of a heart attack. This is because a person who is having a heart attack may develop a dangerous heart rhythm, which can cause a cardiac arrest Source: British Heart Foundation Christian Eriksen releases first public statement since cardiac arrest: 'I won't give up' | Daily Mail Online
Thanks for explaining. I didn't think it was the same thing, but couldn't have told you what the actual difference was either. Edgar Davids did have a heart problem but I'm not sure exactly what it was or how serious. Asa Hartford also had a hole in the heart in the 1970's and wasn't there a York City centre forward that dropped dead of a Heart Attack whilst playing a league game ? Maybe in the 1980's ?
I had a neighbour once who had the same thing happen to him when he was playing for Mansfield Town back in the late sixties but after several years he came back to playing.
erratic heart rythm's are not uncommon [ not saying CE's was in this category ] I have 2 friends who have "suffered" … usually loss of breath/ laboured breathing … after exertions... both have been in for the "heart stopper" [ takes about 4 hours start to finish ] .. surgeon stops heart for a few minutes then restarts it...both fine since!
