Rangers aim to build on 55th league title by launching share scheme for fans

At a time when relations between football clubs and fans has been strained – particularly those who support the six teams that were set on the – Rangers have taken an alternative step.

Fresh from winning their 55th Scottish Premier League title, the crowning achievement of Steven Gerrard's three-year spell in charge, have launched a scheme that will see fans be able to buy shares in the club for a minimum investment of £500.

The ambition is to raise £6.75million and since opening up the opportunity to pre-register last Tuesday, Rangers have been inundated with applications.
It is a genuine chance for fans to have a say in which direction the club goes, as one share will mean one vote and a seat at AGMs.

This reflects the position of Rangers and the direction in which they are moving. Gerrard has turned them into Scotland's dominant team and is determined to make sure the first trophy which arrived last month will herald a period of dominance.

They are similarly ambitious off the field and Stewart Robertson, the club's Managing Director, told Sportsmail about the plans to create unity – but also reward the loyalty that fans have shown over the last decade, stretching back to when Rangers were demoted to the lowest run.

'It goes back to all the trials and tribulations,' says Robertson. 'The fans have been there for us all the way through. It is incredible, really.

 

Supporters as shareholders ****ing pipe dream, never happen eh!

 

With all due respect Rangers are a far more unified Club than ours,their fans all pull in the same direction,sadly,we can't emulate that?

I said at the time when you spoke of this before that I was prepared to put into our Club,that still remains the case.

BIG difference between this and fan owned clubs.

 

Firstly, rangers fanbase is huge, and they're only getting a 6.75m stake. How much leverage would that give them?

 

I'm not saying any of this stuff is genuine, I'm just reporting back to base...

There was quite a conversation going on about this yesterday. On the Turkish side. Don't know whether to read too much into it. Although, the conversation seemed to be leaning towards the takeover is going to happen.

They certainly seem to know something over there in Turkey.. meanwhile our local media know **** all.

As mentioned when this first cropped up, takeovers don't happen overnight, they aren't like player sales. The DD work and negotiation around fee structure can take months.

 

It would seem in our case, they take years.
