I think he has but what he did was a cheap trick, same as Pogba's with the (non-alcoholic) Heineken. If he wants to campaign about Coca Cola that's fine but what he did was opportunistic and sneaky and, imo, a bit smartarsed and does him no credit.
This sort of post hoc whataboutery really does individuals no credit at all. It implies that people can’t improve and move on, when most of us evidently can.
Of course people can improve, change, move on, etc. But if he really cared that much about dissing Coca Cola he could have refused to do the interview and put that out on social media. But no, he pulls a cheap trick instead. In fact the publicity Coca Cola gets out of this will likely do them no harm at all in the longer term so it's all a bit pointless really. Also the reports about their company value dropping $4b as a result of this are inaccurate. Forbes magazine looked at the timeline of events on the day in question. Coca Cola's share price had been dropping during the morning and by 0940 their value had dropped by $4b. Ronaldo moved his bottles at 0943. By the end of the day the stock price had actually risen a little. https://www.forbes.com/sites/iese/2...t-move-coca-cola-share-price/?sh=355ae2e0efbb
You’re being very snide and bitter about this Maybe he’s just a dad who doesn’t like his kids drinking it and eating crap saw the bottles and thought I don’t want to be associated with it as my kids will see it and it will encourage them to drink it
I'm not being snide and I'm certainly not bitter. I just think he pulled a cheap trick deliberately, Pogba too. As I suggested, why didn't he just refuse the interview?
They can, but it would violate all sorts of contracts, so they won't because they're of afraid of repercussions. However he was quite happy to be a 3rd party in violating the deal between Coca Cola and UEFA. UEFA are now threatening fines if it happens again. I don't think this is what Ronaldo would have had in mind.
What’s your problem with him doing it He’s the player he is because he looks after himself and doesn’t drink or eat crap So didn’t want it in front of him Good on him What’s your problem
Had it been there just for decoration, no problem. It was there as a result of a contractual agreement between UEFA and Coca Cola, nothing to do with him. Does he go around defacing Coca Cola adverts, pulling down McDonalds ads, no of course he doesn't. He just takes a cheap, opportunistic shot because it costs him nothing and makes him feel good about himself. You called me snide earlier, I think what CR did was snide.
