I was thinking earlier about reasons why we remember and like players of the past. I am talking really about players that maybe arent our greatest, but have a place in your heart for some odd reason or other.

I always remember Davenport fondly. Not because of his goal against Middlesborough but because I remember an away game at Notts County when he was warming up as sub and we were giving it the 'SuperDav' from behind the goal and he was laughing and thumbs up. No idea what game it was, my brother says it was a Zenith data thing but I only remember laughing my arse off.

I have a soft spot for Pascoe too. After the cup game at Oxford in 92 we were in a traffic jam to get away and the car next to us had Colin in. A bit of a laugh with him.

    Any other random memories?

I'll always remember Michael Reddy because of some bloke behind us who made everyone laugh by fluffing his lines and shouting "Come on Reddy! Bring on...Reidy?"

Always stuck in my head for some reason.

Que lads giving rendition of man at C&A

Apologies to all those supporters not old enough to have a clue about this :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I walked passed Fraizer Campbell when he lived in Seaham.

He was with his lass and I said “alright Fraizer?”

He looked at me, looked at his lass, grabbed her tit and made a ‘honk’ noise, laughed and kept walking.

Kevin Hector . In 7o’s we played Derby County in league cup. In second replay at Roker , Hector broke alone and tore towards Fulwell goal. He was a red hot striker at the time and the Fulwell end fell totally silent in expectation of the ball hitting the net. He uncharacteristically blasted high above the bar . In the silence before the cheers of relieve and derision , a lone voice was heard. “ I’m a silly old Hector “ ( Hectors House for those who remember , youngsters on here won’t know). Was anyone on the board that lone voice?

    the classic milton nunez...

waited for what seemed forever to see this lad play and they threw him on against wimbledon, for those old enough to remember, wimbledon at the time signed players who were over 6' 5" tall (in the main) and i honestly cannot get this image of what looked liked a 10 year old kid jumping for the ball against these two 'giant defenders'...

...and that was it, nothing else about his time here (bar my niece all but stealing his white baseball cap off him after the game) lives in memory.

That reminds me of a time could be 20 years ago now
Sitting behind the goal at the stadium of light with my leeds mate playing leeds
The ball was kicked over the bar and I jumped up into the isle and caught it full on and sent it back onto the pitch
Ironically it was with my weaker right foot
    There was a roar

  10. Away match at Luton,...can't remember the year....night match. Milton was a sub,and during the early second half is sent down the touchline to warm up. Gets cheers as he runs down to our bit of their ****hole of a ground, and, showing off, starts to do handstands and cartwheels in front of us!!...to raucous cheers of encouragement.....until our bench cotton to him and call him back to warm up properly! Hilarious man!
We go on about some of the signings we've made during the Short/Byrne era.....but,****ing hell, this lad must take the biscuit!

    Lionel Perez.
Sleeves rolled up, get stuck in.

He made up for his shortfalls on position and dealing with crosses with desire and commitment.

This might be my memory playing tricks on me but I remember a pre season game at Gateshead. I am sure it was the debut of white away strip with dark blue patterened shoulders. I seem to remember Hauser standing on the ball in front of an open goal, but maybe it never happened. What did happen was the exhaust blew on the princess motor we were in on the way home.

It was amazing the number of players that Reid signed that didn't quite do what it said on the can.
Can't understand how questions weren't asked by the club about the way our money was spent towards the end

Visiting the family in Sunderland, my cousin took me to Annabelle's (I Think) where we met Colin Pascoe propping up the bar. He was absolutely hammered, helped him into a taxi later on :)
