Interestingly I heard a German journo being interviewed on the radio this morning... . and she said Germans were going... oh no anyone but England as overall we have a better record against them.......
This is where luck can play such a big part in deciding who wins championships Yorkie. All nations have their bogey teams, or styles which they don't like playing against. I can't confirm the ''anyone but England'' bit because Germany's number one fear is always Italy - having lost three semi finals and one final against them - Germany have only ever beaten Italy once in a competitive match and that was on penalties. They don't like playing against teams with a strong midfield who can hold possession because the German style itself is based on high possession and not on the breakaway. So Spain and France are difficult for them, as are physical teams such as Serbia or Croatia. I expected the Portugal result because they always fold against Germany. Based on England's style Germany are more beatable than the present Netherlands side would be.
Anyone else feel that the VAR decisions in the Portugal v France game were, at best, Premier League quality? i.e pretty rubbish.
The France penalty was the wrong decision. Other 2 right I think. Lloris took out the Portugal player badly and the other one was the usual handball are the hands in a natural or unnatural position.
Good test and preparation ready for next season for Bachmann tonight facing a barrage of shots form top players!
More or less pre destined that Kaspar Dolberg would score a brace tonight back on his old hunting ground !
2nd goal was unfortunate in so many ways but sadly Wales cannot really complain about the result so far. Had the Danes down as dark horses and they look strong.
Well Bachmann did himself no harm tonight making some good saves. In fact Austria generally were very unlucky not to win really. Goal ruled out for offside which was right but took a long time to check!
Thought Backman did ok. Had no chance with Italy's first goal, beaten by sheer power. Pulled off a good save prior to the second goal, which I thought he was guilty of being a little static. Seeing the angle from behind the goal, he did not even move his hands and the shot was not nearly as powerful as the first that beat him.
Yes probably. Let's hope we don't join them! Just shows even the best players can miss vital penalties.
