i rarely watch 'standard' television now, if i want to watch anything i find it on 'tinternet or on the old firestick...but even the choices are filled with these (mainly) crap seasons of series, sons made an attempt to get me 'into' a couple of them and i duly sat down to watch, 5 minutes into the first one i told them the entire story and ending but admit it took me 10 minutes for the second one, they asked how the hell i had worked it out as fast and i had to tell them they are simply re-hashing the same scenarios we had in the 70's...so i stuck with my 'i dont watch them cos they are all sh1te' explanation and went back to my computer.

The very first Big Brother back in July 2000 was a very good idea, basically a science experiment. No clocks, grow your own food, budget shopping etc, see what 12 strangers do in a house with cameras, lengths they would go to etc etc. Now, it's all absolute bollocks. If they do bring out a new game show for example, for the average person on the street to win 3 grand, it's hijacked by celebrities that can win 100k for their chosen rock collection charity.

Its primarily modern rock, Oasis and the like, but tinged with very slight folk/country.

He's currently fixated on 'White Mansions' which he ignored, for 30 years, when I first gave him the album.

If you listen to this clip play it as loud as possible.

    I avoid them all.

The 'Mary Whitehouse approach', for those who can remember that sactimonious Lady.
I just use the off switch if it's something I don't like.

And with various recording devices, Box Sets, DVD's etc, there isn't a shortage of entertainment if thats needed.
I gather though that the sort of programmes thay you are on about do generate a vast amount of interest on 'Social Media outlets'.

    Now, that is worrying.

(PS - This and another football site are my only social media interests.)

It's the totally mixed messages tghey give to children that bothers me, i only ever see the trailers during adverts.

Children are told that everyone is valuable and included, then declared losers on 'talent' shows.

They're told that working hard at school is vital then see Little Mix becoming millionaires for dressing like prostitutes and 'being discovered'.

TV should be better than it is but, after all these years, the content is becoming threadbare and puerile.

I am absolutely convinced that there is a deliberate policy of "dumbing down" television and other forms of media. The powers that be don't want me and thee to be reasonably educated and aware of current affairs and the world around us, it does not suit their agenda of pulling the wool over the eyes of the undereducated plebs they think we are. See Charlie Methven for example.

People like him may be better educated which doesn't mean they're more intelligent ...

... although he obviously thinks otherwise.
