We signed a player on Thursday night, he failed his medical on the next day. Can now confirm it was Solomon otabor, been told it was a problem with the knee which he played on after a limited amount. From a poster on CL.
Have also heard that we are driving to Wales on Friday but will not be staying because of Covid issues. There are no trialists.
It's bizarre how little the Sunderland fanbase seem to care about Wyke leaving. It'll be interesting to see if he does anything next season
Adam Matthews signs for another year. https://www.cafc.co.uk/news/view/60...atthews-signs-a-new-contract-with-the-addicks Pleased about this as he's been very good for the last two years, but................. Where are the signings that are going to improve the squad ? We were nowhere near good enough last season, despite what the table says. We need a few top notch signings over the next couple of weeks or I fear we will be battling for a play off place again, which is not what I expected when TS took over.
Famewo is in the building https://www.cafc.co.uk/news/view/60e6ba4349cdd/done-deal-akin-famewo-returns-to-the-addicks
He's still very young for a centre back and has plenty of time to progress into the first team if good enough. I think Adkins will judge it right when its time for him.
Excellent.....and with an option to buy him permanently.....slightly strange, but perhaps it means we are more likely to keep him for the whole season rather than risk him being recalled
He seems to have switched to right-back, at least that's where he played for the U-18's. I assume that's where he played for the U-21's. And since we have Gunter and Matthews on the books now he won't get a look-in. I hope he goes out on loan.
I understand we have Famewo back, and Matthews. Famewo is fine when he isn't injured, but he missed almost half of last season. Matthews started 2 more games than Famewo. Very much feels like getting the band back together (minus JFC, who started about 10 more games than Famewo or Matthews). All of this must be what Nigel Adkins wants, so we'll have to trust that he can get more out of these players than Bowyer did. Still feels to me like we are well short of a team to command the league and sweep all before us (as was done 10 years ago)...
If I’m honest Lardy we’ve had years of neglect and I don’t think this can be fixed in this summers window alone , I do think that NA can get the best out of players compared to Bowyer and retaining Stockley and Famewo is a step in the right direction . Guess we’ve just got to be patient and enjoy the ride
I guess so. It's worth remembering we were a million miles off an automatic promotion place last season. I'm not very inspired, if a top 6 place is all folks are hoping for this season. Will always be grateful we still have a Club. But I have to remember not to take wild talk about a wonderful future at face value. It seems that even if it comes at all, it's going to take a long time.
If Famewo and Innis stay fit we could have a very good season, especially if the new signings turn out to be the dog's bollox. Albie Morgan has to seize his chance too. And how will Schwartz turn out if he gets more game time? There are a lot of ifs, making predictions difficult at this stage.
When it's bad it's really bad, and even when it's good it's still bad Could be worse though. I still feel for the Bury fans.
