Interesting. Quintana is riding well but looking more at mopping up Polka Dot points than stage wins. Today’s stage is brutal and the best man for a stage like this is Pogacar. Everyone is thinking that Pog will be looking to protect his yellow jersey but we should have learnt by now to expect the unexpected from him.

My view is that Team UAE will be hoping for a break to go away with riders like Quintana, Higuita and Konrad. Then they can control the pack and not worry about the stage win. I think this will be the case as its not a mountain-top finish and they don't need to take too many risks with the pack looking unlikely to be able to pull off a big attack.

I don't think you would like to read what is being said about Cav in the international cycling forums. That a 36 year old rider, who had been practically retired for two years and who in the last season never entered the top ten, wins again with such ease gives a lot to think about. For the worse. After this maybe Cipollini can come back and win.

Aren’t they forgetting the sprinting ranks are full of dog **** (bar Wout) now that Ewan is out? The best team is putting a good sprinter on the best wheel and he’s getting the job done. If Sam Bennett was in that position he’d be doing the same. Jakobson would also be doing it if he was available too.

Perhaps Cav has also dedicated himself to pornography and we don't know it. So the secret of eternal youth may lie in doing porn sessions. Mmmmm... I hadn't thought of that. I'll have to try it.

Cyclings problem is that it’s history dictates that nobody ever gets full credit for their achievements any more.

Yes true with the general population, but those who follow more closely will be fully aware that performances are now recorded using power meters etc , average speed of the race has dropped last few years, dopers would stand out a mile, also the peleton would call out any these days , ironic when it used to be the other way round .Bit like gambles in racing, they cant be done with internet betting , stand out like sore thumbs........cycling probably the cleanest pro sport atm ,

I need to stop betting on the mountain stages!!

    today

    0.8pt Cav @ 2.82
    0.2pt Van Mour @ 50

If it’s a sprint then Cav is the obvious one. If it’s not then I fancy a Van Mour solo.

The ladder indeed. A windy day and more protection riding from the yellow jersey. They will no doubt hope in the UAE team that Ineos are prepared to put in a shift for them today and that may well happen as they continus to try to get to bottom of Pogacars reserves.
I can see another breakaway happening today and being left to stay in front.
Wout @ 6's despite yesterdays efforts he had a lovely coast for the last 20k and can impress again today
Colbrelli @ 33's has been in the mix virtually throughout and its surely only a matter of time before he gets a stage win

Really windy here today. Come through my village about 3pm local time tomorrow. Tour de France creates something similar to lockdown. At 3pm today i have to park my car and i can't drive it again until late tomorrow.

Nimes looks magnificent doesn't it? The Arena is fantastic and in much better condition than the Coliseum.

Tremendously good natured hour spent waiting for this.
Most surprising thing is the lack of people in the village, some said more on the open road.
These shots just down the hill from the previous shot.
    Great stuff

    Come on Cav
