But in European competition BAB this should be our minimum expectation.... its the expectation (not hope) of the Germans, Italians, Dutch etc.... and not only the people but their Football Associations...the World Cup is a whole different level..
It may be an expectation however how many other England teams have achieved what this team have at the Euros ? How many other England managers have got us through to the final ? Despite the talent they've had at their disposal ?
I think the first half a hour we where brilliant and the better team. The way Kane was dropping into midfield was really clever. But the Italians are wily and worked out our system. I think we should of switched 4-3-3 early in the second half. I think where almost there. I just think where a ball playing centre midfielder away from winning something. As for penalties I have no issues. I don't think age is a defining matter for someone to take a penalty. The Italians who missed where 25 and 29.
It’s a great achievement to get through to the final and well done to the team. WC or euro only one team can win it Anyone who “expects” us to win the WC is deluded. We’ve got some really good players who are a pleasure to watch. Can’t ask for more personally
A peak of 31m people tuned in last night across BBC and ITV. The highest TV rating since the funeral of Princess Diana.
When I saw Harry step up to take the second i was a bit concerned, not a prolific goal scorer or a regular penalty taker however when he put his laces through it and nearly took the back of the net out thoughts quickly changed. They have worked on penaltys, the way to do it, the mind games etc. we have known penalty takers in the team, proven goal scorers and then it all went down hill. Any stato on here who can tell us how many of the players last night have taken penaltys for their club and their success rate?
Apparently, Saka's never taken a penalty in a professional football match, which makes him taking one rather bizarre.
I think it’s bizarre that Sterling was kept on yet didn’t take a penalty??!! Me n the lad both said he needed to be off and rashford on at least for extra time rashford can stretch them a bit more but thought he must be leaving Sterling on to take a pen! then he doesn’t And why take Henderson off? Yes he’s missed pens but if that’s the case just don’t let him take one
It's one thing taking them in front of your mates at St. George's Park, another entirely in front of 60,000 at the final of a major tournament.
Mourinho said: 'In this situation, where was Raheem Sterling? Where was John Stones? 'Where was Luke Shaw? Why didn't Jordan Henderson or Kyle Walker stay on the pitch? 'I think it's too much for a kid to have everything on his shoulders in this moment, but I don't know, I have to ask that question to Gareth because many times what happens is that players who should be there are not there, players who should be there, they run away from the responsibility. 'And because I feel Gareth is such an honest guy and is so protective of his players, I don't believe Gareth would ever say if 'Player A' or 'Player B' ran away or hid or said they were not ready to take one.'
I was watching a documentary a couple of weeks ago which was made 3 years ago to mark the passing of Geoffrey Wellum the youngest Battle Of Britain pilot. They had interviews w8th him and others. He was 18. The average age was 20. Despite shoout outs 3 or 4 times a day against ME109s, which I would say was pretty stressful they appeared remarkably untraumatised by the experience doing it time after time. That truly was a matter of life and death.
Sounds interesting but I would question if there wasn’t some trauma in a lot of them I watched nazi death squads, recommended, the other day. Horrific at times. but even all those nazi butchers were suffering with mental health problems and it was acknowledged by the hierarchy. give it a watch

So near...yet so far. Fine achievement to reach the final. Qatar 2022..might be too early, but USA, Canada and Mexico 2026. One can only hope. It's the hope that kills you!
We'll have a chance in Qatar, why not? The squad will still be very young and will have had a full season of PL. We'd need a favourable draw though...
