I've never got that. If I saw a big truck or a car about to squash me, my undies wouldn't be clean no matter what they started off like.
My first interview/wedding/general purpose suit: £30 including waistcoat. Cheap mens outfitters, top of Whitefriargate, about '79. Probably Burton's but might have been something else. True story.
Good luck Cas. If it is face to face, a little tip is to very slightly adjust your chair before you sit down, Apparently shows assertiveness. I once shared this with someone I was managing. Years later, I was on an interview panel, same person had applied. He strode into the room and started opening (or shutting) windows. They were behind where the panel were sitting, so not exactly subtle,
Worst interview I ever had Did a shocker and couldn’t wait to get out One of the panel said can you see yourself out and I turned round and walked and opened the broom cupboard!! Ffs Felt like staying in there tbh
I had an interview at the now long gone Kingston General hospital on Beverley Road. The job was for a porter. I was 17 years old the interview wasn't quite what I expected. When I entered the room, I thought there'd just be a boss and you know he'd ask me a few questions. But no, there was a panel of five and I was sat out away in the middle of the room. I was terrified. The first question was "Mr Kempton, there are two positions available, one is transporting patients around and the other one is moving dead people down to the mortuary, which one would you like to apply for?" Kempton: Erm, the dead people one. Why is that? Me: Erm, I reckon they'd give me less trouble. Needless to say, I didn't get the job This really is a true story.
Thank you for all the support and well wishes guys. I did get the job. But I think I personally did okay. I think it's time to start looking for a new as this one is not challenging enough and quite boring. Plus the hours are quite ridiculous.
I assume you mean you didn’t get the job? Others ones will come along and keep mentioning them here so people can help if they can
Never been a better time to get a job than now. Permanent or temporary, application rates are very low, and shortlisting/interviews are almost a given. .
Some truth in that. Getting a job is one thing. Pursuing a career, and something you really want to do is another. If you want to be a manager, study management. If you want to be a lawyer, study law. If you want to be wealthy, study wealth..... Work harder on yourself than you do on your job. Jim Rohn. The formula isn't difficult. Just requires perseverance, belief, effort. And working on character, to come across as someone worth employing / investing in. A bit of good fortune also comes in handy, but funny how that often comes along when the rest is in place
I genuinely must work for the worse company in history. We have had serious staffing issues. I keep getting overtime that I have not requested and not just a bit but 30+ hours a month. I was asked for my availability for the month of September. I requested that I was unavailable for 5 days out of 30 days and 3 of them where ignored. I've spoken to my Trade Union and they advised I only have to be available for my contracted hours.
If you want to do overtime then tell them what you are available to do.If they mess around and change it then don't do it... How do you inform them of your availability? Text,E.mail, verbally? Be specific and advise them that you're trying to help them out when you can but if they continue to mess around with your agreed overtime you'll withdraw your availability.
I've worked in warehouses all my days. Not a bad game to be in(if you haven't already been in it),once you clock out at the end of your shift it's out of your mind completely until you clock back on. Best of luck
