We've all missed international travel i'm sure, i know for certain that i have. Where are peoples favourite destinations for a holiday? Mine is Langkawi. Mrs and i wanted a break a few years ago and just wanted to relax. It was the perfect destination as there's not really a lot to do there and what there is, is quite slow paced. After about day 4 the staff at the resort were shocked that we were still there as most people only stayed for 1 or 2 nights. We stayed for 10 and by the end of the holiday Mrs O was up singing on stage with the band and we were getting half price drinks at most of the bars.
We've just got back from Westward Ho! in North Devon. We've been going around that area of the North Devon coast every few years since the kids were little (like I remember as a kid going repeatedly to Scarborough and Bridlington). If the weather is good, you'd not need to go abroad. This is the view from a cafe in Clovelly and the beach at Instow: and Westward Ho!
We go to a little village called Caldbeck in the northern lakes. Brilliant place for doing nothing. 28deg yesterday just had short walk and went for a dip in the river.
We were there last Tuesday Rooch, lovely village, the cafe in the mill is good their homemade jams are to be recommended. Your too old for swimming in rivers mind.
I’m a little Englander and also not a massive fan of flying so my favourite places are in this country. Now based in the midlands, I love Northumberland and Cornwall.
Been going to Crete for 40 plus years We found Stalis in Crete 15 years ago We try to go at lest once every year Was booked up again this year for three weeks However second thoughts we cancelled and re booked for next year If things change in the very near future we will book up
Think I may be greedy as we have a few favourite places - Aysgarth in North Yorkshire, a beautiful part of the country and try to get down there a few times a year, Playa Blanca in Lanzarote and Malta - both for the sun and for long haul option both Singapore and Sydney
Its a good question and you know, I can't really put my finger on it. I don't think its Sydney in particular but Darling Harbour specifically, probably cos I've got good memories of being there. I have family in Oz in Warilla and Canberra regions and we did think of moving over there but didn't for extended family reasons. Got good memories of driving from the Blue Mountains up to the Gold Coast the first time I went over there which I really cherish when I went with my parents to meet my aunt and uncle for the first and only time. They introduced me to Sydney which is probably the reason its one of my favourite places if that makes sense
Most of my family is in the Canberra region, i spent 17 years there. I just don't get the hype with Sydney.
Agree, found Sydney a great place but was happy to move on after a few days, wouldn’t like to spend more than 2-3 days there, but I’m like that with most cities.
Thailand, amazing place, cheap as chips, great food, great golf, unbelievable hotels and according to a few in my golfing group, the entertainment isn't the worst either.
Eldest daughter lived in Sissi for 12 years until the financial crash meant she had to come home, had some lovely holidays along that stretch of coast, too bloody hot in July/ August mind.
I suppose its because most people see tv pictures and it may be the most associated with the country. When we were staying with one of my cousins in Warilla, my wife couldn't believe that she was in the country until she saw the Opera House and Harbour Bridge! I enjoy being in the country - the attitude to life is better than over here
