Nothing fancied today? I'll stick my neck out and say I'm having a modest e/w investment on Ardbruce in the first at Worcester. Not completely reliable in his jumping it seems, but a couple of decent efforts at Stratford recently offer some hope at around 8/1. Good luck if you have a punt today.
I'm going to take a chance on one for today but without much enthusiasm. Worcester 14,20 Soldier On Parade 13/2 e/w two places.
I like this one too and you are spot on regarding the jumping. If he gets his act together in that department he should win. 9/1 with 365 now or 17/2 4 places! My other bet here today is Soldier On Parade. In the "real interest" race at Doncaster I had a small EW on Makhan King at 50/1. The yard does well here with its juveniles and it ran a decent race on debut at Thirsk, really didnt deserve to be the price it was but there might only be one place up for grabs.
18:20 Doncaster - Notime To Pass (Very modest e/w bet on this Postponed colt, damsire Raven's Pass (quite well-named). Seems to be a rank outsider in this, but this doesn't seem to matter with the Tim Easterby yard. Dam, Red Raven, was a winner over 1m. Stable unsuccessful yesterday at Catterick, but not for want of trying. A few close finishes without winning. Stable jockey, David Allan, takes the ride. At 66/1 I'll put a few shekels on e/w. )
Worcester 4.20 Minella Mojo Career low mark today, has run well at the track in the past and stable amongst the winners recently. 4th last time out hinted some promise in my opinion. Obviously stable's other runner is well supported in this race but a good run for each way purposes wouldn't be the biggest surprise.
Mixed bag for Gosden at Sandown. The Queen's Dukedom was dismal at odds-on. I was a bit worried that he was thumped more than 5 lengths by Sonny Liston on debut and that is a long way unless the winner is very smart indeed, Today the son of Dubawi had no answers in the business end as others went by and he weakened into 4th place beaten more than eight lengths. This was a setback to a career path for sure. Better news followed for the stable, with Inspiral living up to her name. Last in the early stages and no obvious headway forthcoming the daughter of Frankel would have been giving those who had backed her at Evens a rather uncomfortable feeling in the lower intestinal area but once she started to make headway it was happening quickly and easily. Still pretty green I thought and when she initially reached the leaders it was questionable for a few strides but then she really hit top speed and took more than three lengths out of her field in the final 1/2 furlong. Wild Beauty finished runner up and she is no mug. The Racing Post rated Inspiral 102 for this Listed win but to me it looked a Group performance and she will be taken very seriously wherever she goes next. I was impressed enough to back her for the 1000 Guineas. I think there is more to come for sure and she'll get a mile no problem. That ability to come from off the pace could be a strong asset and I prefer 7F form to 6F form. Aidan O'Brien hasn't been doing a lot outside of Point Lonsdale, who won at 1/8 this evening and Jessie Harrington's Discoveries has to step up from her form thus far, The May Hill at Doncaster was mooted as her next target and John Gosden said that they will not over-race her this season because she is a big framed filly. Frankie said that he hit the front far too soon today and hopefully both he and the filly wereknow more about each other next time. No doubt the Lowther and Cheveley Park winners will make headlines and be backed for the Guineas but year after year they don't go on to win the Guineas the following season. 1000 Guineas Inspiral 16/1 for an early dart. Point Lonsdale is as low as 7/1 for the 2000 Guineas after beating Maritime Wings three lengths this evening. I didn't rate the runner up coming in and thought his 88 RPR looked a bit generous at the time for flooring a 2/5 shot. His win hasn't worked out since and I think cutting a horse to 7/1 for winning at 1/8 is a bit scandalous.
