All yours BB. Enacted in Munich in 1512 and originally applicable only there it was extended to the Duchy of Bavaria in 1516 - it only covoured the whole of Gemany from 1909. It states that beer can only contain barley, water, hops and yeast (the latter being added later) - any ingredients other than these means it cannot be called beer. This still applies today in Germany for all beers actually produced here - imported beers have not been subject to this law since the EU objected to it. Originally it was simply to protect Munich beer against foreign imports. The famous Trappist beers from Belgium could not be described as beer if produced in Germany (despite tasting better). Take it away.

Cheers cologne - I'm not a fan of Belgian beer, but have whiled away many a happy hour enjoying the German variety in Munich - in both Marienplatz and the Englischer Garten.

What is Christ's notable achievement in the world of football? (I guess this could be subjective, but I do have one specific achievement in mind - it may possibly not be the only one.)

On a church noticeboard in Liverpool, "Jesus saves." "But St John scores the rebound."

True. Still doesn't answer the question though - and I'm starting to run out of clues. :(

Looks like this one is going nowhere - so I'll give the answer and throw it open to anyone who wants the next turn.

Italy? It was abolished there in the late 19th century before being re-introduced by Mussolini prior to WWII.

You're getting close BB. It was earlier than this but the geographical area is ok. Also Italy only became a unified state in the 19th Century so I'm not looking for a country which still exists.

It was the Grand Duchy of Tuscany in 1786 Frenchie <applause> This was temporarily reversed in 1859 upon the annexation into the rest of Italy but the entire Italian state abolished it soon after in 1889. Over to you.
