    That's awful.

But the EFL regulations never make sense. We're one of the few sustainable sides in the league and of being successful is developing young players and selling them on for a large profit. If a player isn't quite ready for the 1st team, a loan is sensible. If we can't loan the younger ones out and they don't develop as expected, the sustainable model fails. The EFL should be championing sustainable clubs, not punishing them.

Not even sure this needs a joke.
It’s incompetence and puts into context the bleating about how people criticising him on here ‘doesn’t help the club’
This appears to have directly negatively affected the club and we’re now relying on the EFL helping us when what should have happened was someone competent should have read the rules and explained them to the less competent.

What on earth has that got to do with it?
We took the cash knowing that meant we had to follow certain rules…but either we didn’t read or understand those rules.
Bugger all to do with sustainability

It's got to do with the fact the loan is to help clubs be sustainable during COVID, but one of the regulations seems to prevent us being sustainable by loaning out and developing players. What was difficult to understand in what he said?

Your right, but.... If there is any element of doubt then the club should have clarified first. We all know nothing the EFL does makes sense and is made up as they go along

Yes, especially the 'all concerned' bit. It's easy to point the finger at the Allams, of course they're ultimately responsible, but I'd say they're entitled to get accurate interpretation of EFL rules from Lee Darnbrough as Director of Recruitment. Looks like that might not have happened.

Do you honestly believe it was ehab who read the rules and made the decision? It will have been the club's legal team who went over it all made recommendations. Ehab/the club will go on what they say.... I'll say again though, it's piss poor all round

Some people really overestimate Ehab's direct hand in a lot of this stuff.

Because it's ridiculous. As Harry Wood played 9 mins on the final day of the season, he now counts as 1 of the 25. The only way to remove him from the 25 would be by letting him go permanently. He's clearly a very promising young player but we're being punished by the EFL for blooding a youngster. If we wouldn't have played him, we'd have an extra spot.

The same applies to Chadwick he counts yet he only played 33 mins, as does C Jones who only played 2 mins. I just don't understand how these can count, and by loaning a player out we should be able to remove them from the 25 too. We aren't being punished but it feels a lot like we are.

Typical joke EFL rules, but it doesn't change the fact the club should have known what they where and acted accordingly

At this rate should just repay it, the loan is more trouble than it's worth. To have only 25 players inclusive of players out on loan is simply ridiculous, particularly if players who have started under, say, 5 games are being counted.

Agreed, we'd be better trying to get the loan from elsewhere even though it wouldn't be interest free. These EFL rules are ridiculous & crippling
