Ideally a centre mid would be my choice, and one who will be a regular starter. 09, Pritchard or Embo possibilities.

Need to see what the final squad is. I've always liked centre backs as captains personally.

Mcgeady is the correct answer for me.

09 for me. Great example of leading by example on and off the pitch.

Think it will be McGeady but I’d like O’Nien.

however I’m a firm believer it should be somebody who is guaranteed to start most games. And I don’t think we can know for sure that O’Nien is until we see him regularly in CM

I’d like a new centre half as captain personally, we could be starting three defenders that are very young. Some experience there is potentially critical.

Evans should also be considered, but I believe he has had a few injury problems of late so that might go against him if he can't be relied on to be a regular starter. Having said that I also like a centre back as Captain.

    It’ll be McGeady, imo.

    O’Nien club captain.

I'd always prefer a centre half or defensive midfielder (like Catts) and no forward (or 'keeper) should ever be a captain . . . . I've never understood the likes of Harry Kane being captain, being so far away from the heart of the team :emoticon-0145-shake

McGeady just doesn't make any sense, and Onions is the best option of those available at the moment, though I expect that to change before the end of the window :emoticon-0105-wink:

I don’t like new signings as captain but one possibility for why it’s not announced yet could be that we haven’t signed them.

Although I thought it would be O’Nien and so far he’s been captain every game he’s been available ;)

O9 for me, ever present in the team and sets an excellent example of how a professional footballer should behave on and off the pitch.

Onien for me. Great lad, excellent player, hardly injured, sets the right example to others, speaks well in interviews and the off the field stuff. I'd he happy with him as skipper.

Strikers are too isolated up front and are (or should be) too focused on making chances for themselves to watch over the entire team.

It's pretty hard to captain from out wide and CBs should be focusing on the defensive structure - plus they can be as isolated as a wide player or a strker.

For me the best captains are always the ones from the engine room of midfield who are at the centre of everything and can easily get to give a bollocking to anyone on the pitch.

Didn't get to watch the Harrogate game so can't gauge 09's captaincy. However, his utility player role would make me think twice about giving him the armband - even though he would normally be my first choice if he was firmly ensconced in midfield. So the whole thing is subject to the vagaries of our bloody recruitment drive!

For me that then suggests leaving the captaincy to a regular holding midfielder.

Gooch club captain. O'Nien first team captain. To me O'Nien is the most influential player and Gooch has the club in his blood.

I think Johnson will like O'Nien for it, he seems to rate him highly, as he should. I'm expecting a big season from Luke. Key player.
