    I mean it is quite mad anyway but why does Dean Windass think West Ham will pay circa 100k a week to a guy to be back up to someone he is better than?

    Blimey if the suggestion really is that his best option is to go to sit on West Ham’s bench then maybe he will stay here

    Iain Dowie was a cult figure. I think it took a long while for Saints fans to eventually appreciate what he contributed to the team but I seem to recall him having a particularly purple patch. It is strange to look back at the Branfoot era and some of the rubbish that he signed without recognising that Branfoot probably contributed to in stature of Southampton than anyone else. I don't think that Branfoot would have lasted as long as he did these days but Dowie was one of his best signings in my opinion.
