This apart he doesn't seem to be capable of getting his head down ...

    ... no pun intended.

What is the situation with a suspension for league games after a red in a friendly? Wonder if the ref has to report it.

I was at the game yesterday. Don't want to defend Benji too much because, judging from Johnson's comments about him being late for pre-season, there's a bit of a temperament / professionalism issue going on, but it didn't look like he did much wrong.

He was playing from the left and we didn't really get the ball to him all that regularly. When we did he looked sharp. Couple of times he had explosive acceleration and went past about 3 of them, looked a handful.

Then they started targeting him, three separate occasions he was on the ball and they were putting in dangerous challenges. The third in quick succession is the one he reacted to. Even then, it looked to me like he just put his head in towards their player, rather than a head butt (their lad didn't even fall over). The ref didn't see it, he was facing their bench talking to one of their other players. Suddenly their bench jump up and he looks round. The linesman must have been the one who gave it. Daft thing to do, but it's not as bad as the headbutt makes it sound.

I don't think an u23 red card leads to a senior team suspension, but I could be wrong

We've all seen similar targeting in L1 matches so it doesn't look good if Benji can't hold his temper in check.

The last thing we need is a walking straight red card in the side.

Yeah - we gave him back to Wigan
    <laugh>

Hopefully Benji learns from it and moves on.

Nowt wrong with a bit of aggression, harness it, and it usually makes you a decent player!

That's what I thought tbh, doesn't sound like he did anything too wild and a bit of aggro can be channeled. Gooch is a good example, he was a liability for a while but has matured now and I'd guess at some point in his career O'Nien had that conversation with his coach.

I trust Johnson to know how to nurture individuals if he thinks it's worth it. If Kimpioka isn't going to respect the rules as in turning up on time that could be a problem.

Unless the rules have change, no suspension.

John terry got sent off for a potential leg breaker in the community shield. Played 6 days later in Chelsea’s opening game as the community shield is classified as a friendly.

    Disagree with the rule mind!!

I have a vested interest but at some point society is going to have to accept the fact that humans, down to our genetic make-up, work on different time-scales.

As one of the few people on the planet employed by someone that appreciates I'm genetically adverse to a 9am start, I can't help but wonder how many others are wasted through lack of understanding.

Literally, I can swab your cheek, then genetically confirm with you whether you're a morning or a night person in less than 30 min. But for most of us, it's just:

    'Too late; career over.'

Worst thing about it is that a lot of us really are the best of us. We watch over you and make sure things are safe while everyone's asleep, then get called lazy pricks when you all get up again :D
