In the end the squad is still large and klopp is loyal to players overall. The real decision points seem to be: Reserve right back. Williams or a loan/sale? Midfield competition. Keita, milner, Jones, Ox. Its not great but there's a lot of flexibility there too that klopp values. Great big honking gap at no 9. Minamino and origi are just nowhere near the level. We then have the shaqiri sale to ponder. I can see us waiting til the bargain bucket clubs are done picking up the scraps like minamino, origi and shaqiri before making any move. One of the stories feel like there's a hunt on, Saul just doesn't sound like the thiago stuff did
I think the problem with many of our players including Chamberlain is their fragility Just when they look like they are about to enter some form we lose them Sadly I don’t see that changing this coming season
I think last season's injury list has made us all a bit nervous. Ordinarily a list of CBs like ours would seem well-stocked, but watching them drop like flies has made us lose confidence. It can't happen again... ...can it?
Season kicks off in two weeks. Very few of these players being bought now will hit the ground running so the players we have now will be who will have to deliver in the first quarter of the season.
Going to be an odd start to season. Lots of teams have had pre season games called off due to covid. Lots of players only just returning from euros. feel like could be a few mixed results in the first month or so while the big clubs are still getting their players back and up to speed
Rumours going on, Coutinho is coming back to Liverpool on the cheap. Barcelona is owing Liverpool so much that desperately want a deal.
Isn’t he on some silly money? That alone would be why he won’t be coming to Liverpool. Good player who found himself at Liverpool but nowhere else.
He's talented, but blew hot and cold even for us, imo. Barca only want to give him back so they don't have to stump up the cash, but we've already spent it anyway.
Man City made £100m for Grealish. Crazy money. I might be proven wrong, just don’t think he’s that good.
Don't agree. We've had plenty of season where players come back really late. Last world Cup for example. Having crowds in will be key. I think personally the long camp with no travel is actually decent for us. Travelling across continents can't be great so we start earlier. This season I'm hopeful we have significant players to look to for readiness. The Brazilians and Henderson will be latest back and the ones who need to show professionalism. Hendo and fabinho will be good. I'm not so sure about big Al or firmino. We will see. I think right now we will be quite sharp day 1.
All reports say they are desperate to clear wages or they can't register the massive amount of business they did already including Messi. Coutinho is on 250k per week.
If its not already on sky its fake news. There's still covid rules that delayed varane after deal was done. There's no way a medical is on before deal is done and dusted with sky sports understands punchline
Not saying we will be undercooked. Just in general. Lack of pre season games and the break between euro 2021 finishing and season starting is smaller than normal. Add in fact that England made it to final so all the England players having less training which affects more prem clubs than it would if it was say Italy v Spain. the condensed season and break I think will have a big impact.
